I Will Remember You-Sarah McLaughlan
CHORUS:
A D E
I will remember you
A Dmaj7 E7
Will you remember me?
A D A Bm
Don't let your love pass you by
A D E7 A
Weep not for the memories
A D E
Remember the good times that we had
A D E Bm
Let them slip away from us when things got bad
A D E
Clearly I first saw you, smiling in the sun
A D
Wanna feel your warmth upon me
E7
Wanna be the one
CHORUS
A D E7
I'm so tired, I can't sleep
A D E Bm
Standing on the edge of something much too deep
A D E7
Funny how we feel so much, but cannot say a word
A D E7
We are screaming inside, oh, we can't be heard
CHORUS
A D E
A D E Bm
A D E7
A D E A
A D E7
So afraid to love you; more afraid to lose
A D E Bm
Clinging to a past that doesn't let me chose
A D E7
Once there was a darkness; a deep and endless night
A D E7
You gave me everything you had, oh, you gave me life
CHORUS

i think this is a person who passed away, "speaking" to a loved one who is still alive. Everyone else has said pretty much what it is. It definitely goes along with a favorite quote of mine, by someone we all know, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." ~Dr. Seuss

Another song that reminds me of my friend Jake. At his funeral, we watched a slide show of his life, and this song played in the background. For the first year after his death, I couldn't listen to this song without crying. Lately, I've been thinking about him a lot...just trying to remember him. He was such a wonderful person, with such an amazing sense of humor. I only hope that others will remember him the way I did, and he will remember us when we all greet him on the other side, in Heaven. "I'm so tired but I can't sleep/Standin' on the edge of something much too deep/It's funny how we feel so much but we cannot say a word/We are screaming inside, but we can't be heard." "I'm so afraid to love you, but more afraid to lose" i love those lines. probably some of my favorites, ever. this song, just her talking and lamenting over what was, telling them not to hold regrets. i like that, a lot.

This song is all about remembering those "ex-es" and past relationships...

" I will remember you, Will you remember me?" Those lines hit the hardest for me because it seems that everyone I've met in the past has forgotten me, yet I don't ever forget them. I'll walk right past an old classmate or friend at some random place, and they won't even notice me there. I've been trying to e-mail my old best friend a thousand times but she's been ignoring me. It was her at first that got angry when I forgot to answer back. I'm doubting now that any of the friends I have now will remember me and all the good times we've had ten years from now. We always promise that we will never forget someone, but few of us ever keep that promise.

This song was played at my friends funeral yesterday and I cried the whole time. This is the best song in the world and I will have the hardest time listening to it now. ~Kayla~

I posted before I read everyones comments, but after reading them, I feel so sad. :( Everyone is sharing there tradegies, its beautiful in a sad kind of way. Makes you wonder why we don't care enough about each other. That's the beauty of music, it brings people together.

This song probably takes after the proverb that states "The only thing worse than regretting something you did, is regretting something you didn't", in this case, regretting that you didn't grab the love that you could've once had, and reminiscing about the lost opportunity.

I sang this song at one of my best friend’s high school graduation last year. Halfway through it I started bawling, I couldn’t stop. It was in that moment that I realized that I’d probably never see him again. It was really sad, but we stayed in touch (somewhat) in the summer and I hope that I’ll see him more this year, through out tournaments, prom, homecoming, graduation, and at Christmas. I never truly realized how much he meant to me until he was gone. You should always value your friendships and loved ones because you’ll never know when they will be gone. Tell them you love them while you still can.
