Cm7 Bbmaj7
Well I'd like to take you as I find you
Cm7 Bbmaj7
Imagine our clothes are on the floor
Cm7 Bbmaj7
Feel my caress so soft and gentle
Cm7 Bbmaj7
So delicate you'll cry for more

But you know baby
Ebmaj7 Bbmaj7
You know baby does it right
Ebmaj7 F7
And you know baby does it right

Bbmaj7
Universe inside your heart

You gotta let me know
Bbmaj7 Dm7
So you can be free baby

Bbmaj7
Two minds consensual
Cm7
Entwined to perfection
Bbmaj7
If we could

Cm7 Bbmaj7 (etc)...
Cuddle up close lay on my chest now

Listen my heartbeats coming down

If you get tired you close your eyes now

But when you wake up I won't be found

'Cause I know baby

I know you're the nervous kind

So much going on in your mind

Universe inside your heart

You gotta let me know

So you can be free baby

You wanted it so much

And now that it's over

You don't know what you want

But let me tell you that

This time (this time)

I'm gonna make you mine (I won't let you go)

'Cause I know this time (this time)

I'm gonna make sure I look out for me

Solo - Bbmaj7 / Cm7 / Bbmaj7

'Cause you know baby

Well you know baby does it right

And you know baby does it right

You will only end up lost in loneliness

And wake up with the words already on your lips

So I'll let you go baby

Go baby

Outro - Ebmaj7 / Dm7 / Cm7 / F7

Finish on Bbmaj7

Interesting view, eirenightshare!!. I never saw it that way, but could be. Like we both said, I still don't think it's about a one-night-stand but definitely about some kind of complex relationship. Like you, I've never been really sure about its meaning, I just took it the way it could fitted my life. Now, after so much time, I think its about a guy that blatantly wants the girl physically but is not convinced about his mind, he think she's too troubled within her own thoughts. So he loves her physically, they make love (I assume there's a little bit of love between the two, maybe they know each other quite well - if they didn't, if he was a misterious guy he wouldn't know her so well), but he is aware that they won't be together afterwards. He will leave and left her alone, not because he wants to, but there's no other way. Now it makes me sad coming to terms about a great physical relationship that holds no future, because you both have realized you're too different...and how empty it is for me now. "just sex" but not with "anybody", but someone who you REALLY know (maybe former friends, like my case) and care for, and to a point love as well. Hurting!!

I think this song has a little more to it then just sex. I think that it has to deal with the emotions of two people who are in love when they make love for the first time. Obviously, he is trying to reassure this girl that he knows she is nervous, but she should just be herself, and that she has nothing to worry about because he loves her. He tells her to just lose track of time (“put time in a capsule”), and to get lost in the moment.

I definately agree that there's much more to this song than just sex, but I don't think it's all romance and sunshine either. It took me a long time to come to any conclusions about "Universe" because by the end of the song you're kind of lost about what just happened. Here's my opinion of what's happening in the song... Clearly, the girl in the song is a virgin and she and the guy have been in a sexual limbo for a quite a while. What leads me to believe that is the fact that he says "You wanted it so much and now that it's over...". So the guy is trying to coax and reassure her that he'll be gentle and that it will be special and he'll take care of her. But afterward you're left to wonder if the girl wasn't just played by the guy. It sounds almost as if he's trying to tell her how she's going to feel in order to sort of pull a disappearing act after they finally make love. He says "You will only end up lost in loneliness" and then "So I'll let you go", which leads to the speculation that he got what he wanted from her and now he's leaving. Playing a classic mindgame by turning her fragile thoughts into something that works to his benefit. So basically, we could all be fooled! lol. I always wondered if the guy in this song wasn't just a sweet and gentle guy, that perhaps he was a smooth talker with ulterior motives. Either way, it enhances the sexiness of the song. That the girl lost her virginity to a mysterious guy who vanished into the night miraculously without breaking her heart in the process.

I do also think that it's more than just one night stand sex. I think it is so much deeper, to me at least. I think he wants her, she wants to make love to her, but he really wants to share the whole thing about it...and he is treating her right. It's one of those songs in which you can just get lost, forget about everything else -along with Insatiable, by Darren himself-; and it has such a special meaning to me...because back then I wanted so much someone that I knew would hurt me so deeply...but still gave in...and so I kept -and keep- telling to myself, ok, if we're goint to be together again, THIS TIME, I'm going to take care of myself and my emotions...I won't let you break me again.
