| This song is so excellent. Every time I put in Through Being Cool and hear this song, I just freak out. I agree with Lia completely, and thanks for that because I wasn't sure what the "coal" and "starch" stuff meant. | |

| I swear this song could be about my life. In fact this entire album totally relates to what I've been going through these past months. "This isn't the way we planned I wasn't supposed to forget your taste" This is about going through a long distance relationship, which is what I've been going through with my girlfriend since we both left for different colleges. However it was too hard for her, and we ended up splitting up, and now theres the new pain of losing my girlfriend. This album really follows the different emotions that I've gone through, and it's really helped me through this difficult breakup. Thanks Chris. | |

| This song is about how he had a relationship with a girl who he felt great about and they planned a great future but somehow he just forgot about who she was and that she was even there. 'I wasn't supposed to forget your taste'. He can't help but remember her, and wishes he didn't fuck things up. | |

| How odd! This song describes my exact situation, even the "Highland Park" part. However, we never sat on the roof...and the guys name. Blah. I love this song. Always puts me in a great mood. | |

| "A core of coal and the starch is within me." To me, it is like Chris is sayin that a core (central or most important part of anything = heart/soul) of coal (perhaps his once light heart has become like a coal, being hard and blackened) and the starch is within me (we use starch to stiffen stuff) so it is like he is saying that his ability to harden his heart is found within himself. What do you guys think? I just wanted a crack at it. The first time I heard this song, I didn't like it that much, but after I listened to it a few more times, the passion and pain comes through in Chris's voice and it just blew me away! I just love the part where he sings, "But even now that you're not here I climb these mountains of houses every night I say your name and I wish I could have done things right." I feel your pain!!! I think we've all been there before where we wish we could have done something different to save a relationship. | |

| I like how Chris is so critical of himself... it reminds me of myself sometimes cause im usually make fun of myself when i do sometime stupid.... He calls this song All-star me cause he's satirizing what he thought he was while goin out with this girl... he grew his ego a little too big and fucked it all up but its all good now cause he knows he was out of his mind. Chris is a tight guy... not afraid to admit he's wrong. | |

| Agh, for some reason I am totally in love with this song...here's a tip--blast it REALLY loud while in the car, and pretend to play the drums. Ohh yes. I love the drums in this song...but yeah, it's so short and sweet. "Look out across the sky, tell me which way the wind blows.." Aw. I love it. | |

| Yeah, this is a song about Chris remembering a past relationship that obviously didn't work out. Maybe he resents that it didn't and maybe he's thinking positively and thinking, well it was all for the best but I had fun while it lasted. Who knows? | |

| i think i have to agree with allstarme, well the poster, its about chris loving this girl so much when he was around her and how much he loved her, and then he wasn't around her for a while and didn't really miss her. so now he feels bad. I swear he's spying on me. | |

| "this isn't the way we planned i wasn't supposed to forget your taste" they were similar but in the end they weren't. "like nights spent figuring all the ways that we came to this place." now that the guy looks back, it seems unlikely in the first place. either the whole relationship or the end of it at least. "chris look out across the sky and tell me which way the wind blows." the girl was basically asked "where are we really going with this?" "but even now that you're not here i climb these mountains of houses every night i say your name and i wish i could have done things right." he does everything they use to do together now that the girl is gone, and wishes they were still together and 'perfect'. | |
