This song doesn't need to be analyzed...but I love the part -- "I guess this is what it's like to be really down, and holding out for something." It's really true. For some reason, I really love this song...I can picture myself laying alone in a parking lot, thinking the same things. This song reminds me of summer for some reason. Even though I listened to it first last winter, still...

i believe this song is about a young man experiencing something we call... Life. maby for the first time he is experiencing the world... out of a depression, or a breakup... He is finally getting back to his life... feeling the freedom of our world... his sences come alive... and he sings this song.

this is one of the best, although they are all awesome. this is about a guy or Chirs having a moment alone with himself reflecting and regretting something he did(perhaps the last lie he told?). he remembers how it used to be, when it was better "remembering the open arms of two years ago". things are holding him back blocking his way like trees as a metaphor. "'cause if there weren't those trees I think I could see for miles" such a great song. doesn't it give u a summer feeling?

why is every saves the day song a damn masterpiece? or everybodys favorite song? i mean yea theyre a good band and all but you people are scary. "this is one of those songs we shouldnt try to analyze" what? might we offend the mighty god chris? and by the way.. saw them live.. and chris dances like a homo!

THis song definitly exemplifies chris's excellent ability with imagery. i agree tickle me emo, this songs very summer. through being cool was recorded in june, so maybe some of that shines through. i never thought of this song as finding yourslef though, to me its that feeling of inferiority and sitting and contemplating about what great things earth and yourself are capable of, but after all symbolism isnt whats there, its what you find there...oh and in return to retarded-sloths message, i think the through being cool lp on the whole is a god damn masterpiece, and i think chriss "rag-doll style" dancing (according to spin magazine) is a nice contribution to the charm and appeal of STD

i kinda choose to ignore random lines in this... from the first remembering to lying and without them the song is about trying to find yourself.. its a moment of thought... such a great song... "i can feel the pavement against my skin.." couldn't have put the midnight star gazing any better...
