Saves the Day is classified as an emo/ indie rock band who formed in 1997 in Princeton, New Jersey, known for its punk roots.
Using mid- 90s groups, such as Lifetime, as their main influences, the band, along with the help of Chris Conley's lyrical writing ability, shot into the indie rock scene with Can't Slow Down released on Equal Vision Records. They continued to produce steady hits of power ballads and poppy anthems until their third full-length album, Stay What You Are, when they experimented with a more melodic sound. Their last full length album was "In Reverie."
Conley has grown with his lyrics towards more varied subjects beyond the themes of love and relationships. They have planned their next release, titled Sound the Alarm, for the spring of 2006, and they have also begun touring in fall 2005 with Emanuel, The Early November, and Senses Fail.
On January 30th, 2006, it was announced that Saves The Day had re-signed with former label Vagrant Records for the release of their upcoming album, Sound the Alarm, which is to be released on April 11th. Sound the Alarm has been rumoured to carry a heavier, more driving sound reminiscent of the older Saves the Day albums.
