| Cool song. I think the girl is insecure and she should do something about that...but it's still cool. Go marching band =] That's partly why I like the song. I'm very much a band geek. | |

| I don't think there is any deep meaning to this song. The singer is just blowing off some steam by dissing the Miss Perfect Princess of her high school. Yeah, she is probably doing it because of her own insecurites, but who doesn't diss that one girl that had it all? Every school had one, and if you think about it, if that perfect had-it-all-together chick was the fake kind (like they all USUALLY are) then nobody really liked her-- not even her 'real' friends. The only reason guys did was because they dreamed of having sex with her. So, all that to say that I enjoy the simple meaning of this song and what it says. It is practically a hidden anthem of people everywhere, despite their role in society. In the form sang by Saving Jane, it rocks. | |

| I don't think this song's too deep or anything.. I think it's just about what oh, just about every girl ever goes through. There's someone who all the boys love, all the girls love, you're jealous. It happens to the best of us. You alwyas want to make yourself believe she's really ugly on the inside and though everyone loves her, the jealous makes you wanna hit her. Who has that NOT happened to? Seriously. But whatever.. it's a fun song, good theme, it fits almost everyone. I agree with blaquefearie on wanting to just be the girl next door too..that's really what i am, but it would be nice to have the spotlight sometimes, wouldn't it? | |

| I personally don't like the message of this song... it's kind of like buying into the whole stereotypical "Miss Perfect" and that only she can get a boyfriend and stuff... it allows girls to be self-concious about who they are, and feel as if they aren't as good as that little miss perfect @ their school... | |

| I love this song. It's very deep and means so much to me. I love Marti Dodson. (who sings it) This song is about how the girls who aren't popular and perfect get made fun of and shunt to the side like they don;t matter. I like this song, because I can relate to everything basically. It's just perfect. And NO it's not about the Girl envying another girl because she's pretty. It's about how your life can be devided into parts. And for those that are Popular, congrats, but you don't need to rub it in and be queen of the world. And for the Girl Next Doors, your the better person, you don't need always need to be in the spot light to be special. being the Girl Next Door isn't always bad. But it IS nice to feel special and wanted every once in a while. | |

| I think that it's about the average envy that every teen gril will feel, because even though she knows the wounds will heal over time, the thought of not being the good-looking un-hated popular chick that every girl really, truly wants to be isn't the girl that she is. | |

| Yeah, I agree that it's about the less popular girl 'getting back' at the girl that every high school has who is the Most Everything Girl. But I also think the girl is happy with who she is because who doesn't like 'the girl next door'? I was not in the band in high school but had plenty of friends who were. They were all cool and pretty in their own right... | |

| i think that this song has a lot of meaning. i think that the girl singing the song doesnt realize how amazing she really is, and instead of looking at her true qualities, she focuses on the bad and is insecure. she envies the popular chick at school. and frankly, id rather be the girl next door than the popular chick. | |

| i think that captain dorkster got it fairly right. she always compares herself to this "miss america" and doesnt see her own good qualities. she begins to realize its jealousy and envy of this girl who everyone thinks is perfect. | |

| I think this song was written for me. The first time I really listened to this song I had been out somewhere with my bf and he kept staring at this one girl who is like THE cheerleader. She and I used to be friends but she started becoming who she is and I stayed who I am [I get a little bit, she gets a little more] and we just drifted apart. He did eventually wind up with her. And, like many others posting on this thread, I am a bando. (Well, actually colorguard but that's considered marching band.) | |

| This song is just about a girl who is venting about her utter hatred for the most popular girl in school. Obviously the girl who is venting has self-esteem issues (which alot of teens can vouch for, including myself) and it makes her compare her fault with the gifts of 'ms.supposedperfection' | |

| I agree with miss mac, i don't like the message of the song but for different reasons, honestly in this song the person i am is portrayed as "miss america" and i used to be this other [marching band or whatever] girl. and so i decided to be better, yes BETTER. And i'm happy now, honestly the girl should stop complaining. if you don't like who you are.. fix it - its as simple as that. Do whatever makes you happy, if you like who you are - good for you. If not .. change it, change you... | |
