| This is definitely one of my favorite songs ever made. I found it by random chance on the internet, and I listened to it hundreds of times in about 4 months. So great. I love the sole/soul word play. BTW, if anyone knows where to find tabs for this song, please tell me. I can\'t find it anywhere and I REALLY want to learn this for guitar. | |

| becellis5 your right...this song was written for max's mother...he wants to pretect his mom from all the stuff in the world, and he wants to get closer to her...ick if this is true but i feel as if his bipolar disorder is keeping them apart...also i think maybe she was having affairs with soem guys and max didnt approve of it...idk if thats true but i think the beastly commision is his bipolar getting in the way of their mother-son relationship btu he wants her to know that he will do anything for her | |

| this was the first say anything song i heard. so i feel obligated to add my take on it. it sounds like a 'hero saves princess' fairytale, it's brilliant and can applied to so many situations: he's goin all out to save her from the liars (fountain..), who are using her (they chose you.. they hunt you..), and protecting her (the beast... whirlwind..) and keeping her sheltered from other viewpoints (floating in the dark.. under their shell..) its not her shell, 'they' have created it. and he needs to remind her who she is underneath it. the biblical references (blessed.. walk on the water.. hell..) make me think that maybe she is being sheltered by a religion. max probably had a more specific meaning in mind when he wrote this, and for me the meaning will change as my life changes, maybe ill come back here in a few years, by then say anything will be well-known. mark my words. | |

| this is such a small detail, but I love how you can hear Max smile while he's singing. Especially when he says, "and I'd stand there like a soldier with my foot upon his chest" it shows how much he cares/loves about the person he's singing about, that it brings a smile to his face. | |

| First off this is the most amazing song ever! Second, i believe this song is about a girlfriend who has either died or left him. He is struggling to get her back. He's just thinking about it though on what he would do. He wants his love back in his life. At the end of the song he does it and gets ""her"" back. Its a great song to have your boyfriend say that it is your song! It's so beautiful =]] | |

| RememberToForget: I play all Max's songs on guitar and am happy to help you out with this one...www.geocities.com/stalk_on. search through and you'll find what you want. This song was written by Max FOR HIS MOM. Sorry to disappoint some people, I'm sure, but lyrically, it can work as a couples thing too. | |
