I think this song is about the band starting up and one of them being a hairdresser and being stiffed on tips by their clients (ie "Frieda, can't you spare me a dime? I got to give myself one more chance to ring the band that I know I'm in") or maybe just wanting support for the band ("where is your love?")

This is the song that really got me into the Scissor Sisters (only because I never gave Take Your Mama a chance) but this is the best song EVER to do jazz hands to!
