| This song is beautiful in its own terms and applicable to a number of life events. I can't remember exact details, but I remember reading somewhere along the lines of this: The lead singer of Semisonic, Dan Wilson, and his wife had a child. The child had health problems or something to that effect, and he penned this out of love and helplessness lest the baby not make it. I could be remembering wrong, but regardless, this song is absolutely beautiful. | |

| It's such a beautiful song abstract and gorgeous. Sublime is the only expression I have... | |

| This is the other hidden treasure on the “Feeling Strangely Fine” album. Last year, this song came up on the stereo right after attending the memorial service of a family friend who had passed after being struck by lightning. As it played, I nearly burst into tears because I interpreted the lyrics as recognition that life is really a short gift to us all. I felt the singer had also lost someone recently and was imploring all his friends and family to last a long, long time. Whatever the band intended with this song, it is a beautiful reminder to live the life we have to its fullest. | |

| i love this song. I always thought it was just about human life, how amazing it is in a simple way how we are made to "pair up" in our "one time love affair with the earth". Yet it speaks of true feelings. e.g in the lines i love... "Made to dream of flying So high Made to wake up crying I don't know why" showing we have certain expectations and how even though life is meant to be simple we humans are a bit more complicated and sensitive. | |
