SINGING IN MY SLEEP -Semisonic
Track 2 on the Feeling Strangley Fine album
Written by Dan Wilson
Transcribed by Ivan Hyde (hyde@freenet.msp.mn.us)
INTRO: E - B - C#m - A (x2)
VERSE:
E
Got your tape and it changed my mind
B
Heard your voice in between the lines
C#m
Come around from another time
A
Where nobody ever goes
All alone on the overpass
Wired and phoned to a heart of glass
Now I'm falling in love too fast
With you or the songs you chose
PRE-CHORUS:
AA-BB AA-BB
And all the stars Play for me
BB-AA BB-AA
Say the promise you long to keep
CHORUS:
E B A
I can hear you sing it to me in my sleep
I can hear you sing it to me in my sleep
VERSE:
I've been living in your cassette
It's the modern equivalent
Singing up to a Capulet
On a balcony in your mind
In the City the lion sleeps
Pray to Sony my soul to keep
Were you ever so bright and sweet
Did you ever look so nice
PRE-CHORUS:
And all the sounds Dream for me
Oooo Oooo
CHORUS (x2)
BRIDGE: E - B - C#m
PRE-CHORUS:
And all the sounds Dream for me
Dive me down in a soul so deep
CHORUS..

| I got a theory, because I saw that some people said he had an obsession with someone, because of this tape and others said it was about Blondie. Doesn't he just have an obsession with Blondie? I really like the song by the way. | |

| yeah, the mixtape thing is so true - plus it's got a deeper edge about relationships in general | |

| The introduction... AMAZING. And lyrically it's beautiful. Some good writing went into this, most definitely. What I find especially interesting: Its statements about how love necesitates music also hint that music may in turn necesitate love. Hmmm? | |

| anyone who's got a mixtape from someone they really like can relate to this song. my favorite line: "i've been living in your cassette / it's the modern equivalent / signing up to a capulet / on a balcony in your mind." | |

| I reminds me of better times and of couse this should have been more popular that Closing Time. That's their worst song in my opinion | |
