Senses Fail is a New Jersey, USA based screamo pop-rock band that draws heavily from the punk, emo, and hardcore genres. Their main influences are Taking Back Sunday and Underoath. The band is influenced by many spiritual beliefs, which manifest themselves in their lyrics and musical themes.
They released their first EP, From the Depths of Dreams on August 12, 2002 on ECA Records, followed by a re-release on April 29, 2003 on Drive-Thru Records. Their first proper album, Let It Enfold You, was released on September 7, 2004 on Vagrant Records. It too was re-released with five bonus tracks, including three acoustic versions of songs on "Let It Enfold You".
Senses Fail has been criticized in many punk/ alternative rock circles for such things as unoriginality in songwriting and lyrical content. Sites such as Absolutepunk.net have many users who feel negatively about the group's output. One such user had this to say: "it went something like this..DTR/Geffen told Senses Fail 'write a good song'." Senses Fail said "we can't" and than Vagrant stepped in and said "we dont like DTR so we'll pick you guys up just to spite them. The result senses fail still has no good songs and Vagrant is stuck with the shittiest band in the world. Vagrant will hopefully soon find out that SF's crappiness far outweighs their spiteful hate towards DTR."
This comment was featured on Drive-Thru Records website as the band departed to Vagrant Records.
