I agree in full with Aaron. This is my favorite song on the album. I really like how they just went all out on this song and did it right. It started out nicely, and then went into a sort of self-inflicted rage. I thought the electronic drum beats were pretty creative and well timed, and Morgan did a perfect emulation of that exact riff. The tribal/natural interlude was a great way to just calm things down and just think about the real meaning of the song, and it lets the listener understand and relate to that one line even better..."I often wonder how it came to this again." I think this album was great, I'd give it a 4/5. I am a diehard Sevendust fan, and I'd say it is another excellent delivery from these boys, but I still love the classics like the first three. I do not agree with All Music Guides 2/5 star rating, I read the review multiple times, and it is just another biased pushoff by the narrow-minded mainstream pundit, Stephen Thomas Erlewine. He is nothing than a pop culture puppet. This album is excellent, and deserves a four star rating. This is Sevendust we are talking about here. Have we really ever heard anything less than such from them? I didn't think so either.

An prog. opus is a progressive opus or something (and an opus is basically a musical composition). AMG is AllMusicGuide... a music review site =P I can't believe they gave Alpha 2/5 stars. It can't be that bad can it? We'll see.

Wow, how come no one has commented on this song. For one, this song is simply amazing, and the lyrics are just beautiful. There could be a couple different reasons of what this song is about. The first verse, is clearly about how he made a mistake and he doesn't know where it will lead him. The chorus I think is about how someone has done something really bad to him and he wish he could forget it all, because it's the only thing on his mind and he can't concentrate, it's all he thinks about. The 2nd verse I think is about how when he made his mistake, he didn't know what he wanted but obviously what he did he regrets. The 2nd part of there chorus where it goes "I pray the day will come when you will see What you took from me, From where it all began, the way I used to be (wash it away – release me) " I think it talks about how one day the person that hurt him will see how he hurt him and how he was different before he got urt. The 3rd verse is talking about how now he's being controled by whoever hurt him, and how that person tried to help but only made things worse. And the ending of the song is pretty self explanatory. I'm not sure what all of this song means, I'm just guessing. -Aaron.

Dethrye, it's okay. We all know you're trying too hard, yet you're still not even remotely funny. If you're just going to make stupid immature comments irrelevant to the song, just go and get a life. God. It's the kind of thing a 10 year old would say. Sheesh.

I think this song is about being hurt deeply, maybe even rape... "I pray the day will come when you will see what you took from me", taken of one's innocence

It seems like the guy feels left in the wilderness regarding his relationship, like his life is a wild animal in a cage being looked at by people at a zoo: "Why does it feel Like everyone waiting for us To crumble and just break down" It's like the troubles in the relationship are sudden and confusing, and everyone saw it coming but him...

Progressive is a very beautiful style of music with multiple shifts in tempo, and arrangements (building on riffs etc). It's like multiple songs (like 4 or 5) in one kickass package. I doubt this a true "opus" (or masterpiece), as the length isn't that great. :P You want an opus? Dream Theater's Octavarium is a great way to start..
