The line "A cheap holiday in other people's misery" is a clear reference to the Situationist slogan "Club Med: A Cheap Holiday in Other People's Misery," which refers to a resort set in the Carribean at a time of widespread revolution, war, and misery in the Carribean and Central America.

I think this song refers in part to East Germany's poor economy and the fact that West German's and other Europeans would nip over for a bit of fun where their money was worth something. Nice song. Shame they had to nick the main riff from The Jam.

Its a protest against communism and how they wanted the berlin war torn down, which happened later. They were probably looking forward to their Berlin show but were pissed off by the general deciet by the germans.

Oh and the "I'm looking over the wall...AND THEY'RE LOOKING AT ME!!!!!" line cracks me up every time. It's just the way he delivers it. The madness of it all.

It starts off about package holidays (presumably Rotten thinks that the working class are being cheated by being shoved into these rubbish resort holidays), but I have no idea what all that Communism stuff is about...

This song is pretty self explanitory. It has to do with the Cold War. Communism. Paranoia. Pretty obvious. PUNX NOT DEAD

The song is directly biographical - The Pistols being sent on holiday to Berlin by McClaren et al to get the away from the constant danger of being beaten that they faced in London at the time thanks to the hostility whipped up by the tabloids. The line 'A cheap holiday in other people's misery' is one of the best of any Pistols song and is more relevant than every today with cheap flights to distant locations - one for all gap year 'travellers' to think about.

One of favourite by SP. It's about Germany and how was it like there at that time *being devided on east & west*. That explains the communism part, you can even sence a bit of sarcasm *Holidays in the sun*, and offcourse paranoia, a feeling of being trapped.
