wow...i can't stop listening to this song! i don't think it's about a one night stand. it could be about a girlfriend visiting him for the weekend because they live far from each other, and he plans to visit her in the spring (possibly spring break) at her college town??? maybe because of school or work that they have to be so far from each other. he feels lonely because he can't be there with her, but he knows that they've made their decisions to live this kind of life. i don't know, maybe i'm totally over analyzing it, but it just seems like that to me because the other songs pretty much talk about a long distance girlfriend.

It's about a long distance relationship with his girlfriend or fiancee or even wife. "You're my friend for the weekend" - Maybe he only gets to see her on weekends since he's touring the country being in a band. "And the cold reminds me that I've chosen this life" - Chosen the life of being in a band and on the road away from home a lot. And a lot more has been explained above. I LOVE this song. One of their BEST for sure :)

could quite possibly be their best song. "And tonight I walk through an empty street, With my shadow stretching in front of me, When my lonely thoughts meet my lonely feet, And the cold reminds me that I've chosen this life" Love that lyric, describes my life as a hockey player

Ok so I don't know if this is right...at all. But to me it's about a long distance relationship and the couple only gets to see eachother twice a year, in fall and in spring. The only problem with long distance relationships is that you get very lonely the qoute "So hang up the phone cause you're probably better alone" suggests that he's debating wether they should break up or not because he's assumeing that she's feeling as lonely as he is. He knows that it isn't anyones fault he's feeling this lonely except his because he could've broken up with the girl suggested in the qoute "And the cold reminds me that I've chosen this life". Hope that made sense...

This is a really great song. I'm surprised there are only a couple of comments.. I was thinking it was one of their best songs.

lovelovelove it seems to me that it was just a one night stand and he is hoping for something more since it says "youre my friends for the weekend when the spring comes around yo can show me the town that you live in." sherwood is mmmmmazing!

This is the defining song of Sherwood for me, I think. Well, maybe 'The Summer Sends Its Love,' but when I think of Sherwood, I think of this song. I don't so much as like the chorus as I do the verses. Whenever I like the weather outside, I start singing one of the verses. It's kind of lame, but I like Sherwood. As for the lyrics, I pretty much agree with you guys.
