i have a different look at it... i take it as death, reminds me of the dylan thomas poem... do not go gentle into that good night. as in... The more the light shines through me I pretend to close my eyes The more the dark consumes me I pretend I'm burning, burning bright hes hiding from death, yet when hes consumed he hopes to be remembered, and fights... I wonder if the things I did were just to be different To spare myself of the constant shame of my existence could he have done something better, or different to maybe be remembered as something more ... I don't know, i just like this explanation better then the same old same old depression... gets old... :)

I think that He is talking about being someone he is not, and that he doesn't want to face the truth, or let anyone know the truth. This is my favorite song!

I think the song is about someone that has had a troubled life and doesn't really feel the need to explain it. He only wants you to see him for him. I also think it's saying from having such a troubled life he feels the need to act out and when he does he burns bright, but when he tries to do good he just shuts his eyes because it doesn't feel right. I saw them a few weeks ago in ft myers and they were probably one of the best live bands i've ever listened to. The crowd's reaction was different than any i've ever seen. If you get the chance check them out live.

to me this song is explaining his struggle with chioce, he is not sure to go to the light or the dark, and when nothing is wrong or nothing is right he feels lost on his choice like nohting leads him to one side, so he runs back and forth on every end.

this song reminds me of those kids dressed in black clothes and marilyn manson t-shirts, glaring at the world behind dyed black hair and from black-lined eyes. the kids that hide from the world, that resent ever being bored...yet there's always large groups of them. so while alternately hating the world and their existence, they still feel a need to belong and be accepted. but then, who doesnt? anyway, i hope i didnt' offend anyone of the goth persuasion, that's just the mental image i had. everyone at some point or another despises living but then still wants to belong somewhere...

"The more the light shines through me I pretend to close my eyes The more the dark consumes me I pretend I'm burning bright " does that mean "The more the light shines through me, the more I pretend to close my eyes" or "and I pretend to close my eyes"? I wonder.

This song is about acting like you're someone you are not; You put on an act in every situation. Hence the phrase, "And I would rather reveal myself than my situation." At heart he is really the guy who tries not to draw attention to himself, and is just that normal guy which he thinks is shameful. So he hides it deep within himself hoping no one will discover his true self.

First of all, this is my heart song... I absolutely love it and cant help but cry everytime I hear it. I was a mess at the concert when I heard them play it live. It isn't about life, but more about a situation. The song is about dealing with the situation. It kind of makes me think of a death or something. I always thing of my grandpa when I hear it. The first part is about when a situation occurs and you dont really want to talk about it. It's easier if you just leave it as what it is then try to make sense out of it. It's more comfortable to show yourself, because sometimes yourself is stronger than the situation. You're less vulnerable if people dont see your pain. "The more the light shines through me, I pretend to close my eyes" When the way you really feel begins to show, you try not to see it "The more the dark consumes me, I pretend I'm burning bright" When it starts to get really bad, you fake your way through it to try and keep the pain away. The second part makes me think about keeping away from something or someone because it wasn't "cool". Like, in my situation, visiting my grandparents. It becomes habit because once you've been away for a while you feel too guilty to go back. But once it's gone, you cant go back and you would give anything to be able to have it back again. "There's nothing ever wrong, but nothings ever right, such a cruel contradiction..." To the world, they see that nothing's wrong. No one wants to ask you how you are if you're going to answer "bad". You pretend like everything's always okay, but it isn't and eventually it just makes you sick of pretending. People always want you to be a certain way and it's not always easy to be that way because life is a constant change. There's always a certain way to go but it may not always be that easy to figure out which is which because rarely does it make sense.

Its about Jedi and Sith from Star wars, whether to go rogue as darkside or stay in the light. The song is about being torn between that choice and asking advice.

Seems to me hes just having some hard times and is sort of depressed. "Theres nothing ever wrong, but nothings ever right" Thats a sign to me that screams depression. Nothing is going good for him, but nothing really is going bad, its just gives a general feeling of absolute hopelessness. It kinda seems to with "Theres always something new some new paht I'm supposed to choose" that says to me that he feels like hes being tossed around, and really isnt in control of his life, and that hes just going through the motions.
