Well there are to many names up there to name out the retards here. this is one song that should never have been messed with by anyone. thats like taking a pink floyd song and messing with one of his. it would not be right. no one has a right to mess with a dead mans song.

SwiftImmortal, i think that i actually prefer Skynyrd's version b/c of Van Zant's inability to hit some of those notes. When you compare the two versions of the song, it almost seems like shinedown is trying to take this song and add in all of these vocal flourishes, really dramaticizing the song, when in effect the exact opposite of what this song is preaching. It get's really interesting when you think about how the stripped down guitar effects the feel of the music as well.

Ohh I love this song they did a really good job on it too. I wish I had this song downloaded. But they did an awsome job on it and Shinedown is awsome!

Lynyrd Skynyrd was a southern rock band. So, naturally, they're gonna write about growing up in the south. It's a great song, and I actually like Shinedown's version better, because he can hit notes that Ronnie Van Zant only dreamt about (may he rest in peace). It's pretty rare to find a cover that's better than the original, and I think these guys did it.

I am a fan of Skynard because im a true southern girl. But this remake in my opinion is better than the original. They do such an awesome job rearranging it and making the meaning more clear. I like the way they took this fast rock song and turned into a wonderful acoustic song and it still sounds GREAT! Shinedown is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on, it's appropiate for southern hicks, such as skynard, nothing against him. I just get sick of the overly emotional crap rock, that everyone is into now. No offense.

I hate this cover. Lynyrd Skynyrd was and is one of the greatest bands ever. To try and cover one of their songs and fail so miserably is disgusting. I heard that the reason they did it was because the lead singer married the daughter of one of the band members and felt he had a right. B*llshit, he has the right to never cover a song again.

I saw Shinedown live with 3dd and AlterBridge, and I'm a big fan of the original, and I was blown away by it. On the radio it is AVG, but Live. Live it was Amazing, and since I will never get to see Van Zant do it, this was like a dream. Even an old Southerner in a Steve Miller Band shirt was blown away by it at the Concert. Awesome.

I actually liked this song better than Skynard's version because it seemed to flow smoother, both the music and the lyrics. Maybe it's because I'm a Shinedown fan more than a Skynard fan but it's just my opinion. And Featherhead, it's actually him saying "there is-a", kind of like taking a breath... I can't really explain it, listen to normal speech enough and you'll hear people pronounce it like that.

SwiftImmortal_1... kinda off-topic, but jhonny cash's hurt was better than NIИ's. But I like this song, they kicked ass at global gathering.
