Hey Retard
Wanna Be
#1 by Hey Retard at Jan 6, 2006 at 4:05 PM EST
This song always reminds me of my brother whom past away from drugs when I was 12 years old . The first time I heard it it raised every hair on my back . The meaning is so powerful about somone who lost his entire life to a disease called a drug addiction. What so many people just dont understand is that drug addiction is a disease that can be cured. The problem with rehablitation is that nobdy really understands that the after affects of an addiction last for so long you could be clean for 5 years and still crave the drug that completely desroyed your life. Relaps is always going to happen unless that person is given somthing to care about . When a person looses control to drugs they become a victom of accute depression and the second some little incodent happens that is displeasing to that individual the know how to make themselves feel better. all I can say is that if you know a freind or reletive that is a victom of this horrid disease for heaven sake dont turn them away. embrace them with love and acceptance and pray that one day they will find there way home.

I know what the candle and the spoon are but I think they are also a metaphor. He is trapped by drugs and has to escape. He has only the light of his candle and the spoon to chisel out of his old life like a prisoner. "A touch of concrete... without a sound" means that he was sealed into his life without even realizing it. "Under the windowsill they all were found" means that everyone else in his situation were found looking out at a better life that they couldn't reach.

I took a friend to the 3 doors down concert and Shinedown and alterbridge(new phoenix from the ashes of creed) and I was really blown away by both all of the performances. This song was awesome, and he said at the concert that it wasn't just about drugs, but needing to be saved in general. That when he wrote it, he was out a point in his life where he felt like he was helpless... Awesome song live.

I think this line: I live in a hallway with no doors And no rooms is alot less metaphorical then your speculating... I think the guy lives in an alley.

its a real good song ,sounds great. YES!! it is obv about drug addiction and the kind of wasted life people spend due to it and how it eventually leads to the ultimate downfall ..... its a pretty easy song to comprehend , nothing great or deep , quite stupid actually . But the song sounds really nice .
