E+ C+ G+ D+
I'm falling apart again
E+ C+ G+ D+
And I can't find a way to make amends
E+ C+ G+ D+
And I'm looking in both directions
E+ C+ G+ D+
But it's make believe, it's all pretend
So...
E+ C+
Shed some light on me
And hold me up in disbelief
And shed some light on me
G+ D+
And tell me something that I'll believe in
E+ C+ G+ D+
It's innocence within the maze
E+ C+ G+ D+
But I have chosen the wrong way
E+ C+ G+ D+
I'm still getting over who I was
E+ C+ G+ D+
There's no sense of trust, there's no definition of love
So...
Shed some light on me
And hold me up in disbelief
And shed some light on me
And tell me something that I'll believe in
E+ C+ G+ D+
I know now, it's not who you are It's who you know
E+ C+ G+ D+
And I see clearly now, which way to go
E+ C+ G+ D+
I remember the way I fell from above
E+ C+ G+ D+
And I recall the way I was

| This song means a lot to me. I first heard it in my brothers car...when we were driving to the funeral home my aunt was in. She was like our 2nd mother & we were her kids b/c she never had her own. Cancer killed her & the day I heard she was in the hospital I dropped on my knees & begged god to take her so she wouldn't suffer. She live another month after that so when she died & was buried on my 16th b-day I wondered if there really was a god & if he really listened to me. This song is about wondering about your faith, and being lead a stray. | |

| Religion and faith are two entirely different things. This song is one of the most amazing ones I've heard in a long, long time. To hear a band like Shinedown sing about a desperate search for something like faith to hold on to is incredible. | |

| i don't know what the song is about. it means a lot to me as an individual and i think that's how it's meant to be taken. it's one of those songs that no matter who you are or where you are in life you listen to it and say, "that song is written for me." and on more than one occasion i have played it and just thought. it makes me feel like there is something more to life and to just breathe and wait it out. | |

| A good start to Shinedown's career, they could be something great, we should all appreciate that. Another amazing song from an equally amazing album. | |

| I love the short String section playing throughout the song,... It kind of distinguishes it from the rest of the album,... He's searching for himself through faith, and the reason he's having trouble finding himself is because he's having trouble with his faith,... it's a beautiful song,... | |

| I think this is about thinking that you're in a good place in your life, then something happens that knocks you off track. And what you thought was the good place in your life wasn't what it really seemed. And you're looking for a light to lead you to where you need to be. | |

| This is what I gathered from this song, I love this song so much!! He is going through another tough time in his life, but cannot find his own way out. There are two paths he has to choose from and he is confused, knows that its only in his head. He needs someone to “Shed some light” on him, to show him the way, needs someone to help him, support him, and tell him its alright. The “innocence” is how you enter your life, and not knowing which way to go through it, and he knows he went the wrong way and he is trying to get over who he used to be. He feels he cannot be trusted and is not loved by anyone. This part now he is saying that’s its not you who gets you through life, its your friends who help you choose the right path and he can now see where he needs to go. He remembers his past and is thankful for his friends being there to support him. | |
