SHIVAREE GOODNIGHT MOON
|-----------------|
|-----------------|
|-----------------|
|-----2-3-2-------|
|-0-3-------3-2-0-|
|-----------------|
lam Sol
There's a nail in the door And there's glass on the lawn
rem lam
Tacks on the floor And the TV is on
Do Fa Mi
And I always sleep with my guns when you're gone
lam Sol
There's a blade by the bed And a phone in my hand
rem lam
A dog on the floor And some cash on the nightstand
Do Fa Mi
When I'm all alone the dreaming stops And I just can't stand
Chorus:
rem
What should I do I'm just a little baby
lam
What if the lights go And maybe
rem
and then the wind just starts to moan
Mi
Outside the door he followed me home
rem
So goodnight moon I want the sun
lam Mi lam
No it wont be too soon 'til I say goodnight moon
lam Sol
There's a shark in the pool And a witch in the tree
rem lam
A crazy old neighbor and he's been watching me
Do Fa Mi
And there's footsteps loud and strong coming down the hall
lam Sol
Something's under the bed Now it's out in the hedge
rem lam
There's a big black crow sitting on my window ledge
Do Fa Mi
And I hear something scratching through the wall
Chorus:
rem
What should I do I'm just a little baby
lam
What if the lights go out And maybe
rem
and then the wind just starts to moan
Mi
Outside the door he followed me home
rem
So goodnight moon I want the sun
lam
If it's not here soon I might be done
lam Mi lam
No it won't be too soon 'til I say goodnight moon

| hmm i think its about a woman who is all alone at night, and she hears all these things outside and theres a full moon out. she tries to stay awake because theres noone there to protect her. | |

| I love this song...i always figured it was about some chick who is home alone and is hell afraid of the dark and lets her imagination go beserk....i love kill bill even more now for introducing me to this song, and quentin tarrintino for having a (mostly) excellent taste in music....... | |

| I agree with wildberry. I could be completely wrong, but it reminds me of and old hitchcock-type film, where the girl is all alone in her apartment, and someone is following her, but she doesn't know who, so she's walking around wide-eyed, and cautious hoping that the light of the moon might protect her. | |

| Though I doubt this is meant to be taken too seriously (the Hitchcock imagery interpretation seems apt) it reminds me of a friend of mine who was commenting one night that she hates sleeping alone when her b/f is out, because then no one is there to protect her from "the big, bad scary predator who finds me crunchy and good with ketchup." I think all of us let our minds get carried away like that sometimes...this song is a reminder of that. And I agree with weezergirl also--very sexy. | |

| Its a superb and very emotional song. She has such a beautiful voice and it you can really imagine something while listening. I also think the song is about a girl afraid from the dark and hearing all kinds of sounds. Great song! | |
