| well, we know a cicada is a bastard irritating insect that hides underground for 17 years, comes above ground, mates, and dies... the parallels to a sexually frustrated teenager sort of manifests itself rather easily... and it's unfortunate that Daniel Johns hates this song so... for it's my favourite off that Frogstomp album. I know his voice was exhausted/shot by time he was recording Cicada; i wonder if that fuels his resent. | |

| steve you're alright :) and your point was pretty acurate in think it has somethig to do with the process of growing up and out of the "shell" of childhood feels like your fighting against everyone, including yourself. The title is metaphorical of a cicada's metamorphosis. | |
