First and foremost, as the years have gone by, this song has remained one of those one-hit favorites of mine. I always enjoy listening to this song and I attribute that to the nice guitar work and excellent vocal engineering they pulled off in the studio. However, in terms of meaning, I feel that the lyrics drift back and forth from almost saying something to almost saying nothing of any importance whatsoever. One must respect that the memebers of this band were thirteen and fourteen years old when they wrote and recorded this song. And one must concede that they sounded like shit whenever and wherever they played live. Trust me. They sucked live.

Saw them on SNL and they certainly didn't suck. They've got one hell of a rep for live shows. Also, they'd already been together since they were eleven, so three or four years? Not like they were fresh into the garage. SBS meaning works well for me. And I have to say, in relation to the video - what the hell is with the llamas?? They are goddamn obsessed with llamas, especially Daniel. Is it symbolic, random ... what??? Goddamnit.

he's talking to himself. this is what its like to not be happy with yourself. after he eats he looks in the mirror and he says i know you hate but i'll ask anyway. he hates himself. this a inner dialogue.

O.K., If he is talking about how granted people take things in America, it's only because we have the best things in the easiest access than anyone in the world. Everyone who bitches about it is jealous. But I do love Silverchair. Especially this song.

It's about a TV show daniel watched on SBS about a poor guy taking a rich guy to his house and he had to wait till tomorrow to get out.. There's no bathroom, and there is no sink The water out of the tap is very, hard to drink Very hard to drink I suppose the water out of the tap would be hard to drink in a "poor" persons house... By the way SBS is an Australian TV station.
