	When I was listening to this in the car, I noticed that on the side of the road, a house had been razed to the ground, leaving only charred wood and broken bits of roofing. I took this in right as the singer exclaimed, "Who are we/To promise we'll be leaving shortly?" This actually changed the meaning of the song completely for me--imagining a family standing in front of their destroyed home, burned down in an electrical fire ("what was that light", etc.) by accident ("what have you done"), and, as they stare, they feel that their life is over, and try to remember the past ("smile, go inside")--but they still have to make it somehow. "Who are we to promise we'll be leaving shortly?"

	this is one of the most moving songs I've ever heard...I think Silversun Pickups are just about the best current band you can hear on the radio today

	I think this is about the war in Iraq; the lies, the Christian religious fervor that Bush uses to justify his actions. The singer is outraged. now here we are revisiting a time a place a whole industry well we we promise we'll be leaving soon we share apocalyptic views how comforting that we feel it too who are we to promise we'll be leaving shortly For our nation, war is an industry. Both Christians and Muslims believe in an apocalypse. And we promise we will be leaving, but WE ARE NOT!! Finding one last flaw, not so sure about, but it could be it could be touching on our presidential administration's tendency to cover up the mistakes, or even using lies as propaganda.

	I have no real idea what this song's about, but I love it anyway. Here's one idea: SSPU is something of a throwback/revival of late80s early90s alt rock, and they're also fairly anti-commercial. In that setting, you could interpret the second verse as 'revisiting' the music 'industry' of that time, and no they won't necessarily be leaving it soon. Well that's what I hope it means because I need to hear more of this music from this band.

	I do get a whole apocalyptic, end of the world feeling from this. Like who are we as humans to decide there is no hope, and our lives will be over anytime soon? And we as humans keep siking ourselves out, we always think it's the end, we are always preparing for the end, we can't just believe in a better future.

	I agree with Capgun. I think "that light integrated in your mind" means a dream of a better futur, a view of the futur with lots of hope, lots of light. "it's too early for everyone" : the world is not ready to follow this light. We are too much into materialism, commercial or industrial things. So we'll have to keep living into this world as it is for now -->"revisiting a time a place a whole industry"
