I love this song... The lines 'and for the million hours that we were well I'll smile and remember it all then I'll turn and go while your story's completed mine is a long way from done.' are my favourite...he's got closure now...like, now he;s been to ehr wedding, it;s added that final full stop to their relationship and he can remember it for what it was, not think about it bitterly. I see the part about their stories in 2 different ways. The first is in their elationship; she was ready to commit, to get married or whatever, her premarried life/story was completed then, but his wasn;t, we wanted to experience more....the other side of it is that now she;s married her story is completed, but, as he hasn;t found #the one' hsi isn't///but ti still soudns hopefull, if his story was complted and he was alone it wpudl be sad, he can go off and find somebody! hehe Don;t you just love how songs mean different thign to eveone? Reading people's stories about what a asong emans to them, or how it symbolised a iem in there life is so amazing.

I know that this song is about the wedding of an ex. I know that now. I think the problem was that I heard the lyrics differently. After reading them it was quite obvious. I put too much of my own experience into the song without knowing the real words anyway. My best friend drank herself to death and I loved her dearly, so for the longest time I would sit at home at night and drink the only thing I had around - Champage. The odd thing about that is drinking makes me happy no matter what I'm feeling, so it was a champage HIGH. Oh well, that used to be my take. *ARRRRRRRRRR* [You have been pillaged by MadPirateMaggie]

i agree with txsnowbunny. it's definitely him at her wedding "and I never thought it would hurt just to hear "I do" and "I do"" and "I'm at your - celebration" and "Your wagons been hitched to a star Well now he'll be your thing that's new" this song is so pretty

all I know is that this song rrepresented my break-up with my ex, last year. the line "i wasn't looking for a lifetime with you..." that really just said it all...and at times made me cry. but hey whatever thats life

this song is definitely about a guy who goes to the wedding of his ex. he never wanted to get married, but there's a hint of regret ("you'll be the one that just left me undone by my own hesitation") in his voice. he's trying to be happy for her, but he's still so hurt by their break up that he gets himself drunk on champagne. there's an old wedding rhyme that says the bride should wear something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.. ken sings, "he'll be your thing that's new. yeah, what little i have you can borrow, cuz i'm old and i'm blue". its a very, very emotional song. FAVORITE PART: [depends on mood]

sitting at the wedding of a decade long friend his heart is now filled with regret because he realizes that it could have been so much more if he would not have hesitated. Instead he will raise his glass and lie about being happy for the new couple that should have been him and the girl that he now realizes he wanted that lifetime with.
