B5 : 2 2 4 4 x x
D : x x 0 2 3 2
A : x 0 2 2 2 0
E : x 7 9 9 9 7
B5 D A B5 D E
you say stay and never leave
you say meant for ever
I could believe you, but I don't
you say we're almost all alone together
all alone
you say
you say you will
I know you won't
B5
I was wrong
D A B5
I was wrong to ever doubt
D A B5
I can get along without
D A B5
I can love my fellow man
D E #1
but I'm damned if I'll love yours
in a bar that's always closing
in a world where people shout
I don't wanna talk this over
I don't wanna talk it out
I was quite impressed until I hit the floor
isn't that what friends are for?
pain looks great on other people
that's what they're for
B5
I was wrong
D A B5
I was wrong to ever doubt
D A B5
I can get along without
D A B5
I can love my fellow man
D E #1
but I'm damned if I'll love yours
B5 D A B5 D E #1 (etc.)
you say stay and never leave
you say meant for ever
I could believe you but I don't
you say we're almost all alone together
you say
you say you will
I know you won't
I was wrong
I was wrong to ever doubt
I can get along without
I can love my fellow man
but I'm damned if I'll love yours
in a bar that's always closing
in a world where people shout
I don't wanna talk this over
I don't wanna talk it out
I was quite impressed until I hit the floor

that's what they're for
I was wrong
I was wrong to ever doubt
I can get along without
I can love my fellow man
but I'm damned if I'll love yours
Remarks:
The above is my interpretation of the song for one guitar, but since
there are (at least) two acoustics + a bass, it's, as usual, quite
tricky to sort out what plays what. It's especially hard at the part
between the asterisks.
Also, I really don't know if "B5" is really called B5 :-)

| I'd like to think of this song as an open letter from Eldritch to Tony James about how much of a twat he thought Neal X from Sigue Sigue Sputnik was, but it probably isn't. :( | |
