Be dead, fiend from above when darkness falls.
Descend on to my sights, your fallen walls.
Spearhead, break through the lines, flanked all around.
Soldiers of attrition forward their ground.
After a 2/4 bar, play the Interlude, then play the 4th verse.
Regime prophetic age, old in its time.
Flowing beings run on through, deep in the rhine.
Center of the web, all battles scored.
What is our war crimes era forever more!
Return to the original tempo and for the next four bars, play
an eighth note E5, followed by an eighth note rest, followed by an
eighth note E5, etc... This four bar figure is Rhy. Fig. 5 and it
is played a total of four times. Then, play Rhy. Fig. 3 once, and
finally, play Rhy. Fig. 1. That takes you to the 5th verse. This
second solo begins after Rhy. Fig. 5 is repeated 1.5 times.

twice, and then the last four bars use E5 and F5.. the rhythm

| I like the lin 'Sport the war, war support'. I think it's talking about how war has almost become a popular gameshow in recent years. After the Gulf War people want to sit down and be entertained by the war on TV, we've seen this throughout the 90's and post 2000. | |

| Song may reffer to the Napoleonic Era. All just speculation... "Scorched Earth Policy" is basically to destroy everything left behind like food and shelter. Russian's used this in the Franco-Russian war when Napoleon's army was crushed by Russia's climate and tactics. "Deep in the Rhine" potentially a reference to the Confederation of the Rhine in which small German states allied themselves with France. (Franco-Prussian war maybe) "Regime Prophetic Age | Old In It's Time" Age of Enlightenment? Time when people where revolting against their monarchs? "Infiltration push reserves Encircle the front lines Supreme art of strategy Playing on the minds" The reference to strategy. Napoleon was considered the greatest tactician of his time. I saw a recreation of how Napoleon entered the Battle of Waterloo and encircled the Prussian army and then stood against Wellington. "Indication of triumph | The number that are dead " How old war victories were measured, by the number of soldiers you killed weighed against the soldiers you lost. "Bombard till submission | Take all to their graves" Napoleons excellent use of cannons maybe. His "Whiff of Grapeshot" tactic was a huge part of the French armies tactics on the land. Anyway, thats my interpretation of the song. | |

| It's about war in general. There's no indication anywhere in the song about a specific war. This is a war song like Metallica's "Disposable Heros." Some first-person elements that portray horrors of war from a soldier's point of view. "how many people I can kill." It's certianly not a war song like "Rooster," which as a specfic meaning and story in mind. Regardless, I agree it's Slayer's last good song. Lombardo's drumming is incredible. | |
