| You know what, if you have to album people and really get Slipknot, read the lyrics when you're really baked or something. The point of this will maybe come to you... oh, and just a hint, you can only find the subliminal message in the booklet, it's right at the end and isn't that hard to find. | |

| This song is abouta virus that makes man sick(like a "diluted" man or a guy from "Me inside"). The virus creeps and grows in our unconscious mind and attacks us when we do not expect it. This virus of life makes us desperate and crazy, so we want to die , we cry and have pain inside us. Not everybody is infected. They are lucky. But some people are infected and if the virus attacks they are sick of themselves and this world and sick of people around them (so people =shit) | |

The MADMAN Average |

| The most important interpretation of this song is the meaning of the title. After a great deal of though I have come to the conclusion that the virus of life is a child being represented as little more than it's cellular form. The whole song is about a sexual experiences that he finds himself caught in out of control. The guitar further accents this in the lines starting from "it's almost time to play..." climaxing at "I want to burn your soul". This rythem employed emulates the sexual rythem that most people take through intercourse. Don't believe me? tap it on glass or on someone's thigh, and you'll see what I mean | |

| The name of this album is subliminal verses. So it has to do with unconscious mind. Maybe there are more than one souls in one body(duality?) and one is me and the other is like virus. And i like this virus .Every time it appears i love it and i will let this virus take control over my thoughts and over my feelings . So this virus is like a woman as it makes me nervous and sometimes i want it to come home(to my conscious mind) and sometimes i get tired of this fucking virus that wants to kill me. Then i say to my virus: u cannot kill what u did not create. So i won't let this virus kill me and every time it appears i will push my fingers into my eyes until it goes away. Then i am a master. But some other day (when i am alone in my cave(u know, u know-"come see my cave, built in migrane")) it will beat me and i will be a slave. So i am a slave and i am a master.I am a slave and i am a master to my virus. [But maybe my meaning is wrong and sick (these are only some thoughts about this song and about this Slipknot album). So decide by yourself] [ i saw a nightmare - Corey singing with elton john and the backstreetboys their best love songs. For me Slipknot and Metal isn't all about love . Pop music is about love.So when i want to hear love songs (which are completely meaningless) i will listen to pop.I hope Slipknot will not be a pop-band, because i am a maggot . I know they will never be a pop-band] [sorry my bad english] | |

| @^: Then it's not very subliminal... Yeah, I got the impression that this was political, too. I'm amazed, since even though I know Corey's views are left-leaning (from Stone Sour), Anders had this vendetta against liberals (see "Bitchslap/Do Nothing"). | |

| i think that this song is more about a relationship in its entirety, meaning both the physical act of sex and it also incorporates the desire to have someone there for sanity's sake. most of the song is about the anticipation of sex but the feeling is only for self-pleasure and thus after the act is complete the other person will be destroyed, now to me the destruction is more a psychological destruction than physical because you can not physically "burn your soul." so i think that the reference is that after the act the one person will become like the "virus" mentally and so the virus of life continues to spread. | |

| Think of this song as if it is through the eyes of an emotion, like love. Love is the virus of life. It can see you but you can't see it. No matter what you say or do to escape it, it lives. Lover-Set my symptom free means that someone needs to be there to set the love into motion. Love is a bitch. | |

| I think he's talking about the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land: "house arrest" -- the curfews; "suicide; the motherfucker's on self-destruct" -- the suicide bombings by angry Palestinians "hard life is hard as hell" ; "this is no kind of life" -- life under occupation 'Americult" -- the financial support the "free" world gives Israel, including its churches "Never had peace so I had to fight" self explanatory "the freedom is never in sight" -- Israel is described as a democracy despite its illegal occupation I dunno. At first I thought it was just a song where he was expressing anger over invalidation and bullying and a social atmosphere of disapproval, but then I started looking at specific lines... I have no idea how Slipknot feels about that conflict but that's what I thought. | |

I thought that after listening to the song while reading the lyrics. I agree with okysp's meaning too but i thought I'd share what I thought about it. | |

| This is a song about something I like to refer to as "The Infection". The infection is mainstream, and it constantly infects people, turning them into narrowminded, bigoted morons. This song is about the process of infection. The song has a creepy first person view of the virus as it gets people and manipulates them. Awesome song, highly recommended. | |
