Song Name: Vermillion Part Two
Artist: Slipknot
Album: Volume Three: The Subliminal Verses
Tuning: B - E - A - D - Gb - B

If you're confused about the tuning, it's like regular tuning. You tune the low E down
to B, then tune across as if you were tuning to standard. This song is hard. I'm still unsure
about the bridge with the violin, so I will give you everything but what the guitar is
strumming in that part. I do have the melody though. Here you go, I'm sure it's mostly
correct.

Intro/Verse:

Guitar One:
-------------------
-------------------
6-8----------------
----7-6---------2--
----------------2--
----------------0--

Guitar Two:
-------------------
-------------------
6-6-6-6------------
6-6-6-6-6-7-6-0-2--
4-4-4-4---4-4---2--
----------------0--

Pre-Chorus:

Guitars One and Two:
----------------------2---2---2---2---2---2---0-------
----------------------3---3---3---3---3---3---0-------
----------------------2---2---2---2---2---2---0-1-1-1-
------------------------------------------------2-3-2-
------------------------------------------------2-2-2-
------------------------------------------------0-0-0-
I don't know what to do and she makes me sick

Chorus:

Guitar One:
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
5-5---------4-4---------------------------------
5-5---------4-4---------2-2---------5-5---------
3-3---------2-2---------2-2---------5-5---------
------------------------0-0---------3-3---------

Guitar Two:
----3-2-3-2-----3-2-3-2-----3-2-3-2-----3-2-3-2-
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------

Guitar Three:
0----7-8-7-
-----------
-----------
-----------
-----------
|-----------| The guitar doing this part is hardly audible, so just listen closely and you'll figure out the rhythm.

Bridge:

Violin melody:
|-----------------|-----------|
|-----------------|-----------|
|-----------------|-----------|
|2-4-5------------|-2----7--9-|
|------3-5--9-7-6-|-----------|
|-----------------|-----------|

First I'd like to say that following Iowa, I lost a lot of respect for Slipknot. I would not consider myself a "maggot", however their self tittled album is in my opinion one of the best albums ever written. I figured I'd go back to my roots and scoop up Vol. 3 The Subliminal Verses, and HOLY SHIT. I am impressed. Slipknot is no longer the one dimensional band I though they were. Songs like this one break the mold of Slipknot.

This song to me feels like the man whom lost his loved one finally comes to terms with it and relizes that she is truly gone. It's a sad song.

hmm, thats a pretty conclusion...but it's weird cause in the Vermilion he talks about Jesus and im not sure if he is or isn't but i think he refers to Jesus as "her"..so it might be either way..but what you came up with is pretty good

I really like this song, and well. . .. just the whole CD!!!! It´s SO dynamic! He just poures his heart out on this one, and It´s so deep. . . . but if you got the CD, You discover that 'The Nameless' comes right after this one, and that song is EXTREMELY dynamic. . .. I dunno, too sleepy too write something that actually makes sence!!!!

this song is abosolutly amazing, I've got this song on repeat in my car, at home, everywhere. even my girlfriends sings it. i jsut get a feeling it's about a girl he dreams of, he desperatly wants her, but she's only a dream, "I can't make her real, and she seems dressed in all of me." and he's holding his sanity "won't let this build up inside of me" in other words, i won't let this fall to obsession with something that doesn't really exist. err... hope that made sence.

What I meant by a love song "slipknot style" was that the way Corey writes lyrics he never comes right out and says what the songs truely about. I don't doubt that the way it was written was a stalker's love song, but I think the meaning behind the lyrics is as I said earlier..

This song, which is just a continuition of vermillion, could be anything. She could be anything, as i said before... coreys mind is either really intelligent, or really fucked up, either way, whatever it is, is working. You must relise that it could be a stalker song, but theres other things to stalk then girls.

This song is amazing, i'm not the hugest slipknot fan but i got this album before it even came out in Canada (my best friend is a die-hard fan and got it off the net) and i've been listening to it, this song is amazing, anyways it makes me think of a person having bad experiences with love and maybe questioning whether or not true love exists, I have questioned that anyways, and thats what this song reminds me of.

At first, I thought the cd seemed a bit out of place when compared to the first two, but when you think about it, it seems more like the proper sequal to the first one. Like, "Forget Iwoa even existed, this is the real follow up." They went from a psychopathic theme to a satanist theme to a haunted mansion theme. I think it would have flowed a bit more nicely if this cd came before Iwoa.

"The unrequited dream" are the correct lyrics on that line. Glad to see Slipknot has matured, and evolved a lot more since Iowa and the s/t. This album is a great mix of everything Slipknot stands for.
