Title: The Other Side
Artist: Smile Empty Soul
Album: Smile Empty Soul
Tuning: 1/2 step down (Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb)
Tabbed by: Chris Williams (Aphonic369)

Sorry for the confusion...I guess some people just forgot how to read the credits on
top of the tab. I clearly stated that this song was in Eb tuning (a 1/2 step down), but I
chose to write the strings as they are named, not how they are tuned. As for the Eb5 chord
in the break, if you listen carefully to the song you can hear that the guitarist subtly
hits the second Eb5 chord before doing the octaves.

what i get from it in parts is you want something u dont have or want something different then how it is but when you realize it, you dont have it bad and its better then u think. and what you think is "perfect" isnt so good. but i dont know...thats me. "maybe it's not so good on the other side maybe it's not so good on the other side but it always seems so good, on the other side it always looks so good .... it always seems so good"

I think that this song is about living at home and hating your parents, and wishing you had a better family. I think "the other side" refers to his neighbours, on the other side of the fence. He looks next door, and sees the light in his neigbours window, and perhaps he sees his neighbours to be the family he wishes for. But then, he realises that though on the outside, the family next door look so perfect, but they have their own secrets and flaws too. For example, the father is abusive towards the son.

I love this song. You can tell Sean really puts a lot of emotion in it. The first time I heard it I cried..it gave me a vision of the little boy being beat by his father.

I agree its about the whole grass is greener on the other side thing, but the fact that its about your abusive family makes it so much easier to learn that lesson though. Also I love this song and it has inspired a few of my short stories.

wiredmonkiekiller is right, this is an easy song to understand basically his life is hard and he thinks his life would be better if he would be in the neibors shoes that the grass would be greener on his side then when the neibor boy comes up to him all bruised he realizes maybe its not so good on the other side that his life may be better the way it is
