All the chords you need in this song:

D, C, G, A, F#m, Em, and Bm. I've been playing them all open, except for
the Bm - G - A sequence, where I barre them, but you might be able to play
the song more accurately using all barred chords. *shrug* Don't ask me,
I jsut like to strum and sing along. =)

Nah, I think you guys are wrong... A cyclic music provides a rich backing for Morrissey's crooning vocal on this song. His lyrical willingness to prostitute himself for some unnamed love is framed by his frank admission "I don't have much in my life". Morrissey once again provides an accurate portrayal by revealing the arrogance hidden behind the resigned statement "I know I'm unloveable" as the protagonist is sure that the love would like him - if only they could meet him.

To say that Morrissey would ridicule his fans is pretty ridiculous. Morrissey loves his fans. Do you really think How Soon Is Now was ridiculing his fans? What about That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore or Miserable Lie? Seasick, Yet Still Docked? Ofcourse his lyrics are genuine! You wouldnt be able to write songs about what hes written without having experienced those type of emotions. His lyrics are witty and sometimes exaggerated but his fans understand this and embrace it. This song is light-hearted but there is a deep sense of loneliness and despair behind it. And it has one of my favourite lyrics: 'And if I seem a little strange, well thats because I am'. Brilliant!

agree with tps12. this is seriously tongue-firmly-embedded stuff. it sounds like a bit of a knock-off actually but i still love it.

Take a look at any picture of Morrissey, and ask yourself: is that a man who wears black on the outside because black is how he feels on the inside?

I love this song...over-the-top depressing...kind of making fun of himself and his fans...but also not entirely joking. Only Morrissey/The Smiths can get away with lyrics like that ...

"I wear black on the outside, 'cause black is how I feel on the inside" - HA HA HA HA HA! (Seriously, say it with an exaggerated british accent & picture the most overly-EMO kid you've ever seen - HILARIOUS!)

Morrissey mocks his critics. A charming song, hilarious and clever.

Well to be honest tps12, you can interpret it the way you want. Maybe some depressed adolescent would take it all literally - yet I'm sure many people past that age also would. I'm sure most of us would agree that pretty much all of Morrisseys lyrics have some degree of ambiguity. From a person who has actually studied the lyrics in great depth as part of A-Level coursework I did in the past, I understand many of the implicit meanings. Morrissey is a genuis. Yet - they say that all geniuses are crazy. And I think that pretty much describes him.
