Unloveable by the Smiths
Don't know for sure, but I'd be willing to bet dollar for a dime that
it's words by Morrissey, and Music by Johhny Marr. Have fun.
All the chords you need in this song:
D, C, G, A, F#m, Em, and Bm. I've been playing them all open, except for
the Bm - G - A sequence, where I barre them, but you might be able to play
the song more accurately using all barred chords. *shrug* Don't ask me,
I jsut like to strum and sing along. =)
Intro:
D, C, G, A (twice)
I know I'm unloveable,
D C G A D
you don't have to tell me,
C G A
I don't have much in my life,
D C G
but take it it's yours..
A D C G A
* I don't have much in my life,
D C G
but take it it's yours.
A D C G A
I know I'm unloveable,
D C G A D
You don't have to tell me,
C G A
for message received loud and clear, loud and clear,
F#m G Em
message received...
Bm, G, A-A
I don't have much in my life,
D C G
but take it it's yours.
A D C G A
I don't have much in my life, but take it it's yours....
D C G A D C G A
(repeat from *, then continue on)
I wear black on the outside, because
D C
black is how i feel on the inside.
G A D C G A
I wear black on the outside, because
D C
black is how i feel on the inside.
G A D C G A
And if i seem a little strange,
D C G
well that's because i am.
A D C G A
And if i seem a little strange, well
D C G
that's because I am.
A D C G A
I know that you would like me,
F#m G
if only you could see me,
If only you would meet me.
Em Bm G A-A
I don't have much in my life,
D C G
but take it it's yours...
A D C G A
I don't have much in my life,
D C G
but take it it's yours
A D C G A
F#m, G, Em, Bm G A-A(and on and on....)
*the end*
I think I left out one or two musical interludes(maybe not), but you'll
figure them out, they have the same progressions as the rest of the
song. If you don't know the song well, good luck getting the words
to fit over the chords right! Sorry, I tried to make it as close as
possible, but morrissey has a habit of stretching, and smashing syllables,
so one word could be 8 bars(I don't have much in my li -i -ha -ha -ha -ife..)
or even more. Good luck.

| Fuck, morrissey did it again. Sad song, but the music gives it a very light feel, the lyrics are awesome, whether they are sarcastic or literal, they are still amazing. | |

| a lot of you simply just DON'T get the smiths. its pretty spurious of you too, to base your assumptions on today's smiths fan who was vastly different to the smiths fan who was prevalant back when this was written. morrissey wouldn't ridicule his audience, although he's always tongue in cheek and brash and it would be foolish to take his lyics at face value, i would say this song is an ode to the emotion of loneliness. | |

| to tps12, maybe for you this is amusing, but i think it describes a feeling everyone has at one point. i know its very exagerated, but thats how we all feel sometimes. i dont think morrissey meant to make fun of those who take his lyrics literally... mabye your just a douchebag. | |

| I agree with Enolf. He's half-joking, but there is a real feeling behind it at the same time. Mocking that kind of depression is a way to deal with it. If you can't laugh at yourself... Morrissey's lyrics are often humorous & partly tongue-in-cheek. That is why he is great! If he wasn't clever like that it would just be some standard whiny drone. Smith fans know that's not true of his lyrics, however much others assume that about Morrissey. | |

| I think feeling depressed, alone and isolated is an exagerated state of being. So making a songs that can actually reflect that is in a humourous but sad manner is genius. You can only see how exagerated and self loathing youre thinking is after you come out of something like depression. At the time is very real, unless youve been through something similar i think its hard to understand. the best parts the end "But I know that you would like me If only you could see me If only you would meet me" if people would give him chance and get to know him they would like him for who he is but they dont. | |

| Such an underrated song. I love 'I wear black on the outside, cause black is how I feel on the inside'. Fantastically depressing is how I like to call these types of Smiths songs :) | |

| This song is great, but more amusing than depressing. It's a deliberately exaggerated (think "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now"...Morrissey never took himself too seriously) sendup of the mopey, angst-ridden melodramatics that characterize most of his young fans. I can't help but chuckle as I picture all the 13-year-old kids who listen to this song and take it at face value. You have to give props to a guy who can ridicule his audience and only gain its increased respect. | |

| Staghead is correct. I don't think a lot of you understand what Steven's trying to say. You twist it into something else, something that can sometimes make little to no sense at all. I've come to understand that from the replies to this song and all most every other song. Anyway, I truly feel like this song is an exact mirror of my life. Hm. | |
