| The song is rather abstract, but I he's marveling at how so many different things are happening at once. Somewhere someone is dying, somewhere a war is being fought, the world is playing out its drama. In the meantime time is very constant, "safe and sound," and nobody can mess with time. The song and the title has a similar feel to Coldplay's "Clocks," it has a chilly, zoned-out feel and I the title might be Lightbody's way of paying tribute to that band. | |

| I think its about war or death. Parts of it make me think it is a soldier talking to a prisoner of war: "Don’t you breathe, don’t you breathe" - an order to a P.O.W "Another soldier says he’s not afraid to die" - the P.O.W's words "I could do most anything to you." - the fact that the soldier could torture the P.O.W War: "In slow motion the blast is beautiful" - a bomb Then death: "A clock is ticking but it’s hidden far away", the clock is counting the days till we die, but we cant see it, its hidden far away. "Every second dripping off my finger tips" - seems like someone is bleeding to death. I just cant decide, some of the thoughts from my head. | |

| i suppose it's about war (in detail) and death at the same time (in wider meaning) and the key is the title :). the clock of the bomb is ticking and, as well, it's counting the time to ur death. :) | |

| says http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A3011455 : "Written during the beginning of the Iraq war, this song is an anguished reaction to events happening elsewhere, as time marches on, and bombs fall." says me: awesome song. | |

| Hindsight is 20-20. All right my interpretation of this song was kinda shite, death and war do make more sense. Thanks go out to people who posted after me for further explaining the specifics. But how could anyone say that Coldplay's "Clocks" is an uplifting song, catsinmybrain? Something about that song makes me feel like it's a "winter song." I've always associated that song with winter, it just seems to fit. This Snow Patrol song is also very chilling. And both songs do mention clocks and, of course, Snow Patrol is always being compared to Coldplay, Keane too. | |
