| My favorite song... Andrew said it's about their former manager kind of screwing them over... but to me, its about being hurt by a girl and what you'll do to get them back... | |

| i am reallllly surprised about that "biggest let down" thing.. where was that from?? after reading it over, the getting screwed over by manager idea makes sense. lines like "living in a world created to destroy" show the harsh realities of the music industry, and "knowing now what i shouldve known then" is him seeing how he has been screwed over. he wants another chance to prove himself and his music and maybe even et revenge on the manager, but the whole point of the song is that he no longer has the opportunity. as seen in mostly in the chorus. On the other hand, i liked to think this was more about a relationship... similarly about a girl who wouldnt give him another chance. he is saying despite everything that happened, if she gave him the time of day, he could still be "ruthless" as in unwilling to give up. as much as i love this song, the message does kind of bother me... the whole idea that he would be ruthless if she let him bothers me. i feel that if you care about someone or something that much, you would be ruthless about it regardless if they let you or not.... isnt that what ruthless really means?? overall awesome song and you can totally hear the emotion in his voice. | |

| OMG!!! "biggest let-down"? that's a piece of crap right there. Ruthless is my favorite song on the north cd. i don't know what it is, but this is the one song that stuck out the most to me. i'm kind've confused about the whole manager thing...i think it seems like it's more about relationships. a guy wanting a girl so bad, that he's willing to "build a city" for her. i love it!!! | |

| wow, that 'biggest letdown' thing is super-surprising. i love it just as much as lttw. i introduced my best friend to soco and she said that she can't have the same passion for north, because lttw is just so amazing, but i think they're equally amazing. ruthless just fits any mood. great song. | |

| AMAZING! Ruthless is definetly one of my fave SC songs. My friend loves this song and she and I had a discussion about what this song may mean... It's a story of a guy who loved a girl so much that even though she would spurn him and find amusement in it, he could never bring himself to be ruthless with her. And now that she's finally said goodbye, and even enjoying his heartbreak while she does it (...you're waving goodbye well at least your having fun...), he think that she will never be able to leave him for good (...the rising tide will not let you forget me...) and promises himself that if she comes back to him, he won't stand for her games and be heartless when needed (...but I could still be ruthless if you let me...). That way, he won't ever let her say goodbye again (...there you go for the last time...). Anyway, thats my theory. Andrew's sometimes so vague on the meaning of his lyrics, but that's part of the intrigue. We get the opportunity to think up our own interpretations of his songs. | |

| she just spurned him although he gave himself up for her and now he wants her to know that if he ever knew that she cared, he'd make sure that it hurt her. "The rising tide will not let you forget me" | |

| how Andrew described this song... "This song wasn't a fun song to write, its called Ruthless, it's about doing things you don't want to do and how they can come back to haunt you" I love this song and band.. a bit too much probably lol. | |

| The name of the song is Ruthless. Clearly, the "I could still be ruthless if you'd let me" line must have some sort of importance, but I can't figure out what! | |
