Suicide. She couldn't take the pain he was giving her anymore. She begs for forgiveness from God. Loneliness is a major part. The moon watches her and she feels somewhat safe with it by her side. Now she can finally rest. Break away from all of it.

Oh, I love this song. A friend made me a CD a while back with two Something Corporate songs, and I fell in love immediately. So, I bought North, and Me and the Moon is by far one of my favorite SoCo songs. It's so, so pretty, even though there's a somewhat haunting message in it. SoCo is great like that.

When I was listening to North for the first time, this was the one song that stood out to me. Everything about it is beautiful. It's so neat because the song is about such a harsh and serious subject, but it has this calm feel to it. It is really emotional though and Something Corporate did a great job with it. Definetly my favourate song by them. Everything just comes together and in my opinion, no other song really compares to it.

I dont really get her murdering her husband. heres my opinion: "Its a good year for murder" to me that comes out as: its now the time she actually realizes how her life in general is dead. her surroundings are nothing but still life and she just wants to get out, maybe 'kill the feeling' "But i am a butterfly, and you won't let me die" okay this is the most beautiful line ever. this is basically meaning [as said before] she wants the freedom she obviously cant have, and like a butterfly in the net of a 5 year old, shes captured and her fate lies in someone elses hands, as well as her life, and the way she lives it, and she thinks death would be a better resort. i dont know, thats the wonderful thing about soco. you can deffiniately take things the way you want them with their songs. its about the way your vision takes you. just my view about it, and the way i can describe it in my mind, i deffinately relate. its about how you have SO MUCH laying on your back and so much responsability and everyone comes before you and you keep waiting for your turn but it never comes. just my look on it. awesome song.

Andrew said that the way he came up with this song was he wrote the music for it first. As he was playing it on his piano, he thought the first line really should be "it's a good year for a murder". The whole song develops to be about a woman who can no longer take her husband's neglect and uncaring attitude towards her. The only way she can get out of this unfeeling void she is trapped in, or so she thinks, is to kill him. The line "Seventeen years and all that he gave was a daughter" is saying, I think, that in all the time when they were together he never did anything for her. He never cared for her, he never really talked to her as an equal, he never loved her, etc.

I would just like to clear up with everyone that this song is most definitly NOT ABOUT SUICIDE! I read an interview with Andrew, He says, and I quote, " This song is about a woman who kills her husband after many years of not being fullfilled in her relationship and not being where she wants to be in life. She's targeting this man as the reason why she didn't become the things she thought she would become when she was young." If you want more details, it's on the MTV website somewhere...

I agree with thinkingofthesummer, this song is about a woman who is desperatly trying to get free of her husband who just pushes her aside and neglects her. she is meant to be beautiful and free " i am butterfly" but he won't let her be that. when i hear this song i just see a woman sobbing in the kitchen because of how she feels about herself because of what her husband does and says to her. "Away with this spilt milk Away with this dirty dish water, away" she is fed up with it she makes the decision to kill him. she has so many reasons to do it that and can't pick just one. "Reasons like seasons They constantly change" she is okay with the fact that she killed her husband. and she is finally satisfied with being alone "its me and the moon" this is such a beautiful emotional song. i absolutly love it. SoCo did awesome with this one. i listen to this one oever and over and over. beautiful.

OMG I can't believe no on has commented on this song! It's such an amazing song and proves you can have a beautifu song with the vocalist and the piano to back him up. THis song tells a story about a woman who kills her husband because she tinks he is the reason her life has gone nowhere. With his death she can create a new life that's not an ordinary day to day same thing. Kinda morbid if you think about it but it's beautifuly sung and not without hope. "I am a butterfly, you wouldn't let me die"

on a side note, when i saw something corporate in concert andrew said this was his favorite song they've done, also said he didn't know what it meant, i think he's full of shit, prob just would take too long to explain it, or he was stoned. anyway, soco says they have some inspiration from radiohead, you can definitely see it in lyrics such as "Away with this spilt milk, Away with this dirty dish water".... really surprised with the lack of comments on this song, one of my favorites for sure, but i love them all.

Something Corporate is an amazing band! The first time you listen to this song u think that the woman kills herself, but listen to it more closely...."there's no fear cuz he's not here" and "she washes her hands and fixes the dinner"...she kills her husband...you can't fix dinner when you're dead, lol....plus she wouldn't be rushed away because of her crime if she killed herself, because obviously whatever she did was successful so if she was dead she wouldn't be rushed away....she's being taken to jail....It's an awesome song with a great sound and true musical value. (Plus Andrew's so freakin hott...not that that matters but come on!)
