Verse.
D A2
Another lonely night in Amersterdam
Em G
And stars are coming out in waves
D A2
I miss my Miss America in Park Hotel
Em G
And I'm too stoned to call it a day
Pre-chorus-ish thing.
D A2
When everything you wanted
Em G
Seems to hide behind your eyes
D A2
And I'm locked in my hotel room
Em G
Thinking over our goodbyes
Chorus.
D A2
I will write this down for you
Em G
So you can read it
D A2
I will hold my breath for you
Em G
Till i can't feel it.
Another lonely night in Amsterdam
And water's moving through the sound
The blood is boiling in my veins
and the food I can't keep down
And I don't care if you don't love me
And I don't care if you won't change
I could live inside the shadow that I cast on you
And the myth that you would stay
And I'll be home before the morning comes,
You won't have to be alone
I will write this down for you
So you can read it
I will hold my breath for you
Till I can't feel it
You don't have to see me this way,
Cause this way I'm okay
I will write this down, I will write this down
Oh love, I'm tangled up again
Oh love, when does this twisting end?
When does this twisting end?
I will write this down for you
So you can read it
I will hold my breath for you
Till I can't feel it
You won't have to see me this way
Cause this way I'm okay
I will write this down for you,
So you can read it...

| Miss America, favorite song from the north album, possibly because i can personally relate to it. Its about love of course. A love that was hard and difficult. Now its over, and he is left still loving this person. He made a mistake, she made a mistake. And its too little too late. He can't talk to her. So he writes. Thats love, and its life. And sometimes, things happen we can't change, no matter how hard we want, or try to. The end. | |

| I think it means he found the perfect girl and then she left and he's waiting for her to come back even though she probably won't..... | |

| being in love, but not being able to say what you want to say to the other person... the distance idea can be either interpreted as actual, or as a metaphor for the lover being so distant with you... | |

| this song could possibly have to do alot with andrews entire life "ill will write this down for you, so you can read it", Andrew writes his songs as a source of therapy for himself. "Miss america" could always be the perfect girl that every guy is after. Best Amdrew McMahon lyrics EVER are: "Oh love, I'm tangled up again. Oh love, when does this twisting end?" how i can relate to that for every second so every day of my life. When he sings it the emotion he pours into it gives me shivers every time i hear it. .......... "Oh love, I'm tangled up again. Oh love, when does this twisting end?" | |

| I think this song is about how a guy loves a girl with everything he has, but she only sees him as a friend (You won't have to see me this way Cause this way I'm okay) and it tears him up inside so he writes about her in the hope that one day she will read it and it will make her see how he feels and hopefully changes her mind | |

| how come so few people have commented on this song? When I first heard it I thought it must be a top ten or something. Its so inexplicably pretty. I think it's about being in a weird, foreign place and missing everything about your home. Does the part about 'park hotel' imply something sleazy? Cause if it does it probably goes to show that anything from home, no matter how sleazy, is still home. | |

| I'm thinking this song is about being away from home touring, maybe actually being in Amsterdam at the time. "Miss America" could stand for his girlfriend, his family, or even America itself if he's actually out of the country. He misses his beloved and everything about her, and he's afraid the distance is tearing them apart a little. Maybe, if it is about his girlfriend, they had a fight before he left (possibly about the fact that he had to leave) and so now he's "turning over [their] goodbyes". | |

| I love this song so much. My favorite part is when Andrew sings..."Oh love, I'm tangled up again/ Oh love, when does this twisting end?..." There is so much emotion going into it. I think he feels frustrated and maybe even confused in those lines. This is such a pretty song, I don't know how you cannot like it! | |
