Maybe this song is about rumors and lies someone spread concerning the lyrical ego? But go ahead and blame the fool You have beliefs that aren´t true Seems quite clear to me.

I'll add that whatever "way too hot for me" exactly refers to, it's obivious continuation of the sun-metaphor. Likewise "Married to the moon" doesn't neccessarily have to mean he has been married, it's just another metaphorical rephrasing for "Every single day, for the rest of my way, I live without my love, my God, I have to stay in shade" - ie. he's never going to get together with this girl. Quite beautiful.

This reminds me of a girl I once knew, and fell in love with. She kept playing with me, going between another guy and I. Guys came and went, but one thing was certain, she would come back to me. I finally got enough smarts to leave. Just my two cents on how it can relate to an average person :-D

I think "San Sebastian" represents a girl and "the sun of San Sebastian" represents something about her that he liked, or could possibly symbolize that she was very open and funloving. But he couldn't have her, so he is married to some one total opposite of what he wanted.

Sorry.. But I have to say that I disagree with mopi, although he has the basic idea down. I believe this song is about "One way love", so to speak. He's in love with Tallulah, and the feelings that she had for him have basically faded away, or weren't there to begin with. She could have been confused, or simply leading him on. They both thought that they would be together forever, until Tallulah begins to show that she doesn't feel the same way that he does. He notices that she's hesitant to leave him, so he does it for her with a kiss on the cheek, then leaves with only "Bye". The song shows that he obviously isn't pleased with what happened by "I hope your wish came true, mine betrayed me." The chorus shows that he thinks that things would be perfect if she would just give him the chance and try to make things work. "This could be heaven" Then later on, he sees her walking with the drummer of a band, who thinks that he's in love with her, but the feelings aren't true, just as she had felt for the main character before. He also realizes that he still has the same feelings for her as he did before. I absolutely love this song, and it's really touching, even more so if you've experienced this before.

This song, for me, has to interpretations: 1. It's about Evil, Satan takin advantage of blind people. 2. it's about the United States (The land of the Free, The home of the brave), who (as some people think) take advantage of ohe countries.

Zughiaq's interpretation is very close to what I always got out of it. However San Sebastian obiviously doesn't refer to a place, as such. "Look what I have done to my San Sebastian. I wasted all my childhood dreams by staring at sun" It could be a metaphor for a whole lot of things, but I'm going to go with the metaphorical narrator's childhood here for simplicity. A place called childhood which he must leave ("oh why I cannot stay"). In particular the song notes "eighteen years old today". This leaves a number of possibilities why it didn't work out, though the rest of the song hints at some possibilities. In particular "Back in time with a dream of mine" suggests it may have been unreciprocated childhood fantasy. This in turn leaves open the option that "way too hot for me" hasn't got anything to do with promisciousness. I prefer to see it just as a rationalization for the unreciprocated love that the narrator tries to convince themselves of, as that makes for quite beautiful love-song.

I could almost swear that Sonata Arctica made this song about my future self XD It's about someone who's been through a very abusive, traumatising life. "In a house where no one never sleeps, lays a man who sees more with his eyes Picturing the past before him, in a bed, alone, with clothes on Paying for a service he doesn't really need" Here, the guy is in a club, or a brothel (basically a place where you can pay for sex), thinking about his past. Although he doesn't really need sex to make him feel better. "With his eyes, he sees more love and lust more tears, far too much to handle Can't tell a soul, not this time, they'd lock him right up Too much of burning bushes too much for his weak soul" He sees the girl as a woman more than just a whore and it hurts him to know that is how he sees the world and it really hurts him. But he can't tell anyone, otherwise he'd be hauled away to a mental house, or jail. The last line metamorphizes "burning bushes" as maybe lust from both men and women and it's too much for him to handle. Stating that men who rape and women who prostitute themselves or have sex a lot really weighs heavy on his mind, this stemming from a past trauma. "In his mind, oh so jaded, he's gone too far behind Of all the visions seen, this one makes him scream" He thinks too far back and has a flashback of when he was raped probably and screams. "He cannot live neither die in this world Burning sensation inside, you know how that hurts? Making up for the crimes of your life With scythe as your sword, you must fight 'till the end of time" The first two lines here show that he can't live in the world, but he can't leave it either. Everything he's been through and sees tears him up inside. The next few lines speak to him directly, telling him that to make up for the trauma that has happened to him, he has get out there and make a difference in people's lives. "Don't look behind, or you will fall through the time Only time can make you see behind of the curtain hiding the secret. Your time is up when you see the light" The singer continues to speak to the person, telling him he shouldn't focus on the past, and that time will heal the wounds of life. The last line is basically just death. "You can live as a noble man but when time, You won't be left behind" He can live as a good person, helping out and stuff and when his past comes back, he won't dwell on it anymore, for he's gotten over it. "With the sound of time ringing in his head, He leaves the house where no-one never sleeps Job well done knowing that at least one will be pleased" With his past still haunting him, he leaves the house, feeling somewhat satisifed that at least the girl is pleasured. "Hiding is always useless, pictures will fade with time" It says that hiding from your past is useless, time will heal the wounds. "Seeking for a winner of the day, prize of life is here Of all the visions seen this one makes him scream " "Winner of the day" basically means which girl he'll fuck today. "prize of life" means that basically what currently yearns, but doesn't really need is sex with girls. And of course the last one is about his flashbacks and how they haunt him. Yeah, that sounds like me when I get older...

here is my interpretation.....A guy is in love with "san sebastian" and they are great friends.....he accepts the fact that they will never be able to be together....so he finds someone else (the moon) and marries her.....while she married somone else "warming someone new"...as im sure...i seen this in other interpretations above...but yes....i lived through this myself...and i can very well relate to this song -_-

I think Misery05 hit the nail on the head there, at least in tune with what I think this song means. The line "Don´t even dare to say you hi, still swallowing the goodbye" clearly shows that he still hasn't got over it yet (I know that feeling well) though it seems she's dealt with it and moved on already. In passing, I found there's a short story called Tallulah, which I saw described as a sotry about "love and loss" which seems ot be rather appropriate here. I've not read it myself so I don't know exactly what it's about but given that Tallulah isn't exactly a very common name to use (I think) I wonder if this song was inspired by said story.

Disagree. Red light district? She seems to be a girl that is a bit unsure if she still loves the person that sings the song. She get back to him every time, and he accepts her cheating because he loves her until the last drop falls.

This song is about a man who is in love with a woman who is clearly unfaithful.. and also seems to be a prostitute. "The moment I will step aside, you're ready for another ride Walking in the cool night air without underwear You have red light burning in your soul, I've seen the glow." The "red light" refering to the red light district.

really beautiful song:> I think that guy is really in love with that girl, But they are not sure should they be together. The girl isn't sure about her own feelings. So they won't be together 'cause the guy don't wan't to lose the girl again so he just says good bye and walks away. "Tallulah, It´s easier to live alone than fear the time it´s over" terrific! sad but still...

I'm actually throwing my money on evilMoW's version of "Dame And" Myself, I heard it as "Day, man!," but it seemed rather unfitting to the style in which the band's lyrics are traditionally written. Also, you have to take into account the thick accent laid over the vocalist's singing voice, so I'd imagine that "Demon" could well be it.

This song unbelievably magnificant just like every other Sonata Arctica song. Tony K. is an awsome singer and writes the best lyrics of the struggle of seeking true love. Sonata Arctica is the best band ever.

umm... Wolf76, did you mean "8th Commandment"? Anyway: I find your interpretation to be pretty valid. Rumor Spreadors (8th) and rumor believers (False News). I think another good point to add to that line would be Silver Tounge (those who dont understand what they hear) (maybe). Pretty good song

I agree with whats been said, except I don't think "married to the moon" is acctually him being married. I think the "sun" was love, so its the love of san sabastian, and now married to the moon is to live alone.

I think the title refers to the common justification for Hiroshima, that attacking Japan "normally" would have killed more people than the bomb did.

Not quite but close, with the lines "Colour of the jealousy that hangs over thee. Why don´t you believe, You still do not know me." and "Standing on the station, watching your train slowly disappear. I´m only shell of a man, I thought you knew who I am..." it's clearly about a relationship broken over baseless accusations. I pointed to this song in comments about their "4th Commandment" song, so I might as well note the two have very similiar theme. This one if FAR more regretful with lines like "And I´m still your man, and for you I do all I can" and "It´s a real shame the false news travel fast". If you want to link the two, 4th could be about the rumor-spreaders and this one about someone who's too easily taken by rumors.

Fucoc, I totally agree with you, the girl first tells him that she's in love with someone else, that she wants to leave him, then, she regrets and want him back, and that's why the guy it's so confused, he doesnt know what to do, but he loves her a lot, that's why he fall over and over again on her cheatings..he will always forgive her because he loves her, but she is a total whore :D

I personally think it is about the Cold War. The United States was the ruler of the world and from the ashes of WW2 the Soviets rose.. "Miss the times when I was roaring in the center of all mankind I said how they should live their life, I controlled, I was in charge, now I thought the red storm would rise and destroy us all." I also think the Nuclear theme is self-evident. but not Hiroshima, but the Cold War.

O, geez, Sonata Arctica IS the best band ever, and Tony K is just incredible. Did you know that English is Sonata Arctica's second language? That's just incredible. And so is this song.

This song is about a boy who doesn't have enough self-respect or strength to ease himself out of the grip of some manipulative, emotionally blackmailing, openly unfaithful, and just plain scary lover. English isn't the band's first language, but the lyrics can be so frank--"Always ready for a ride"--that it can, after many listenings, still make me blush.

Well, looking about, it seems there are a couple of places called San Sebastian (one of which is in Spain, so the whole sun thing would fit quite well with that perhaps). So, the song could be about that as well, perhaps a place he liked to visit back when he was younger, or judging by the lyrics and other comments, about a girl he met while he was there. Though I wouldn't think of Sonata Arctica to sing about somehting as tacky as a holiday romance, so perhaps it's something much deeper than that!

I belive that this song is about a man who feels he's undeserving of living in the sun (A metaphor for his loves life). He tries to break the relationship, but repeatedley fails ("I tried to look away from her, as always I just tried" and "How could I turn my back on her, the sweetest thing alive") He evetually accepts his failure and stops trying for the sun. But he still watches her, warming someone else ("Now I live my life in shades and I am married to the moon And the sun of San Sebastian is warming someone new") This line has been sounding different to me, the more i listen to it: "When she came, that perfect dame and she blew me away" the "Dame and" part mostly. i've been hearing "Damon" (prounouced similar to demon), which could give the song a meaning that the sun is evil or something, but tempataion keeps him looking at it.

San Sebastian is a city/place. The sun of San Sebastian is a girl. "Married to the moon" and "warming someone new" just continue the metaphor. The first means he has someone else and the latter means she has someone else. The "way too hot for me" part I would mean the girl is rather promiscuous and he doesn't want a girl like that.
