Chris Cornell said the song has a theme of returning to the womb to die, like how salmon always return to the place they were born in to die, he thought it would be cool if people did that too

This is one of my favorite sg songs I always thought I it was about a girl who could not let their x-boyfriend go, and the song is in the point of view of the boy who want the girl to “drown me in you”
