! It's definitely about a person who overlooked the singer, and now the person in the song seeks some sort of righteous revenge. Cornell is the "Mailman", the one delivering the "message of love" The chorus furthers it, saying we're both going to hell in a handbasket, but I'm going to ride you out 'till the very end anyway. Really empowering. "For all of your kisses turned to spit in my face For all that reminds me which is my place" My favorite verse- I imagine this person seeing himself as the lowest of lows- instead of laying down he chooses to kamikaze and take somebody else down with him- figuratively of course. It could also very well be about "going postal" in a sense, Superunknown is all about the suburban american summer lifestyle burning up until it's cracked and dry. But I think for the average listener it's just meant to be about going down with a bang. Absolutely fucking amazing song- one of their best.

I think it's about the way people treat the sort of ... "worker ants" of society. Like how there'll be people there to do menial jobs, or do the things tht we just take for granted or don't see as really important. And people will look down on them, their responsiblity and their imporatance, and see them as bottem of the barrel, lowest wrung, etc. But all these people are seeing the indiffernce and apathy towards them and know that if not for them, the people who are so above them wouldn't have any way to get where they are, and that if they fall sometime in their life, the people who look down on them will fall twice as hard, and twice as easliy. Or maybe it's just about people who think they're powerful and important not seeing how ordinary and flawed they really are, leaving that "job" up to people they see as being below them. I hope that was more coherent, sorry.

This song fits my mood as of now, the girl I was completely in love with isn't in love with me and doesn't want me back and as much as I love her I am hitting bottom and I sure the hell sometimes want to take her down with me for this ride. I feel as though I am literally the dirt beneath her feet at times, I try to pelase so much and I don't get shit from it. That's my interpretation.

maybe its about Cornell raping God Cornell was under God (God is above in the sky). God is always called love. But I dont think Cornell thinks the same. While Cornell is raping God, he knows he's going to hell (the bottom). But he;s enjoying every sec.

I can't tell ya what this means exactly but I'd like to think it's about wanting something eventhough this person knows they're most likely going to get a slap in the face in the end. It's full of frustration and anger, I dig it.

Let me clear up something. Matt Cameron wrote the song and not Chris Cornell. Knowing that I firmly believe the song is about Matt knowing a person who once overlooked and mistreated him and now Matt is experessing how he is above them now because of his fame and status. If it was done by Cornell I wouldn't how to interprate the lyrics becasue Chris writes metaphorically and very abstract. But knowing Matt wrote it leads me to believe the lyrics are more obvious and recogonizable by society in that situation.
