| um you guys that are sayin its about the apocalypse are all wrong. why would a person like chris cornell write about the apocalypse? its really about chris's drug addiction, if you remember when this song was written was when he was having alot of drug problems. think about it Boiling heat, summer stench 'Neath the black the sky looks dead thats like being high. Stuttering, cold and damp Steal the warm wind tired friend Times are gone for honest men And sometimes far too long for snakes thats like comming off the high and going though withdrawls and doing anything to get more, even becomming dishonest Hang my head, drown my fear Till you all just disappear that when he used to just take drugs and drink till the whole world left him alone and his problems were gone. and the "black hole sun" is being sober and hes asking it to come and wash away the "rain" or drugs | |

| I think they split up because, while playing live, their bassist threw his bass at the lead singer. Something crazy like that! I could be wrong, but tthats the story I heard. | |
