SPARTA - COLLAPSE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

tuning: Dropped D

There seems to be a lack of Sparta tabs on UG. So here's a tab on what I think is
the best song of Wiretap Scars. I decided to figure out both guitars for all you
kind people. the verse for the second guitar is all on the D string, and it moves
up and down the neck alot. people might think it would be harder to play it like
this, but listen to the record and that's what he's doing. Ok, enough bitching
like a bitch, here it is.

Guitar 1 (clean tone, almost like a piano)
e--7---------------7---------------7------------7--------------|
B--------7--8------------7-8-7-----------7-8-----------7-8-7---|
G-----7---------------7---------------7-------------7----------|
D--------------------------------------------------------------|
A--------------------------------------------------------------|
D--------------------------------------------------------------|

e--7--------------7----------------7---------------------------|
B--------7--8------------7-8-7------------7--8--8/10--8--7~----|
G-----7---------------7----------------7-----------------------|
D--------------------------------------------------------------|
A--------------------------------------------------------------|
D--------------------------------------------------------------|

Guitar 2 comes in with this while Guitar 1 repeats the above again. Both guitars
continue this until chorus.
e-----------------------------------------------------------14~--|
B----------------------------------------------------------------|
G----------------------------------------------------------------|
D--12--12-12--11--11--7--7-7/9----12--12-12--11--11--7-7/14------|
A----------------------------------------------------------------|
D----------------------------------------------------------------|

Chorus (distortion)

Guitar 1
e----------------------------------------------------------|
B----------------------------------------------------------|
G--7-7-7-7-7-7---9-9-9-9-9-9/--6-6-6-6-6-6---4-4-4-4-4-4---|
D--x-x-x-x-x-x---x-x-x-x-x-x/--x-x-x-x-x-x---x-x-x-x-x-x---|
A--9-9-9-9-9-9---7-7-7-7-7-7/--4-4-4-4-4-4---2-2-2-2-2-2---|
D----------------------------------------------------------|
"Words speak and choose..."

Guitar 2 (distortion, plays over Guitar 1)
e----------------------------------------------------------|
B----------------------------------------------------------|
G----------------------------------------------------------|
D--7-7-7-x--7~---7~------------2-2-3---0~---0~-------------|
A--7-7-7-x--5~---5~------------2-2-3---0~---0~-------------|
D--7-7-7-x--5~---5~------------2-2-3---0~---0~-------------|

Interlude (clean) do two times and on the last time slide the very last note to
the 17th fret really fast.
e--14------14----12------12----14-------14----12------12---|
B----------------------------------------------------------|
G------12------------12-------------12------------12-------|
D----------------------------------------------------------|
A----------------------------------------------------------|
D----------------------------------------------------------|

e--14------14----12-------12----10--12--10--9--10-10-------|
B----------------------------------------------------------|
G------12------------12------------------------------------|
D----------------------------------------------------------|
A----------------------------------------------------------|
D----------------------------------------------------------|

Verse for both guitars repeats again.
Than the chorus again.

Now here's the part with the little keyboards in back. Both guitars play Guitar
2's verse riff while this keyboard goes in the background. I've arranged it for guitar.

Keyboard (arranged for guitar)
e--14------------------14------------------14-----------------14--------------|
B--------------12-------------------12-----------------12-----------------12--|
G------12--14---------------12--14-------------12--14-------------12--14------|
D-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
repeat a bunch of times until the chorus again.

That's it.

this song is beautiful. i can't believe this album came out 5 years ago. "you know when he falls apart he listens in the dark to records turn i'll never learn" to anyone who's ever been alone, dwelling on something, just listening to music, they know what that line means.

I, also believe this song is about a relationship. Here is my take on the lyric meanings. This is my favorite song ever, it gives me chills everytime i hear it. i connect with it. "The host of the show comes down to collapse on the ground." - i believe the host is Jim. When the relation ship didnt work out, his life and emotions collapsed. "and the crime scene revisits me" these are the memories he had with the person that he keeps remembering and it makes him ache as a crime scene would to a guilty person. "this body shut down in this body shut down in Bordeaux and the shores of gold coast, on the balcony I search for sleep." - i think this is another analogy of his emotions collapsing. Bordeaux and the Gold coast were beautiful things that he thought he had, and he just dwells on the lost and searches for sleep on the balcony looking at the bueatiful things. "the future has fallen short, when the sun sets north" this is the future he thought they had fell short and died "Words speak and choose, make sense and lose" this possibly means she told him things that he looked forward to but never happened, becuase they lose. "Capsize the tall tale , but always fail" this again means looking forward to what could have been but it was just a tall tale and it failed. "Forfeit the tall tale, I always will." This is trying to forget the tall tale, which was the possibility of a relationship. "The host had his mouth sewn shut, all in the name of trust"-i think this is keeping his emotions inside him, not telling anyone or his girl what he felt becuase he can only trust himself. "when the blood goes thin hes giving in" i think this is when he was in love with the girl. he did everything for her and thought she loved him back but he just fell into her trap of game playing and was giving in. "you can spare us the formal toast , the drunken anecdotes" - this is the girl not ever considering his feelings and not knowing what she caused inside him. "from this day on goes on and on" he will never forget what she did to him "You know when he falls apart" the girl knows she has hurt him but still doesnt recognize it or say she is sorry. "he listens in the dark to the records turn ill never learn" he constantly thinks about her and how she hurt him and no one will ever know what it feels like "to set it down" - him trying to forgot about her "you'll set it down" - she forgot him and moved on This is my take on the song. Anyone can take this song the way the want becuase it can mean so many different things to them.
