As atdi7777 states, the song comes from growing up in the border. I thought much about the phrase "Count your blessings, you're the lucky one". Well, it depends on the perspective. Being on the US part of the border implies having a better economy, better policemen, etc. Yet somehow i believe that people who grow in the border are a mixture of cultures. I saw them live some days ago in Mexico City, it surprised me that they did not seem to know Spanish. They are a really good band to see live.

This song is about Sparta's life growing up on the El Paso/Juarez Border and the poverty in them. "grew up on a man made line" - the man made line being the border of USA and Mexico. "these hills in our hometown disguise the beaten down" - it may seem beatiful and no one looks past the beautiful to see the bad. That is what i get from this song.

The whole Mexico/US border thing makes sense to me, but my first interpretation of this song was that it was about Tony Hajjar's life in lebanon. It says "count you blessings, your the lucky one", i though that might refer to his family being one of the only few that survived the attacks in lebanon. the lines about the scene haunting in dreams may refer to watching his friends and neighbors die.

Sparta's most underrated song. Incredible live, the lyrics are incredibly written; a lot of great lines. "I want to be welcomed not just tolerated" But the last lines of the song makes me think that the song is about not letting social norms or other such invisible barriers keep you from achieving what you want.

I've seen these scenes Haunt me in my dreams I've just begun to question why How could I forget Imaginary splits Don't have a thing a to do with life To me that means, he has been questioning why what he sees in his dreams, doesn't happen in real life. And then he remember his dreams and ideals don't have a thing to do with real life :/

I also think this is the best song off of porcelain. About two months ago my brother was playing some atdi and sparta and this was the first song that caught my attention. brilliant. One of the main reasons im drawn to this song is the whole idea of letting someone down because of something you cant change. I think everyone can relate to that in some way.
