this is one of the greatest songs i've ever heard, and i have heard a lot. Granted it is pretty old by today's standards, but i feel that this song could have been a HUGE hit, if it had any publicity whatsoever. The song (to me) symoblizes one of two things, i haven't quite decided yet: 1. The one i tend to believe more, he has been with a (woman) for years in a failed marriage; but after the initial infatuation [things are great on the way up] he finds himself yearning for something more. So, after years of indecision in which he felt trapped in the relationship, he finally breaks it off only to find he is all alone and made a mistake [you got what u wished for, is that what u really wanted] and the loneliness and depression set in [rainin in my house] OR 2. Its a simple song about the rise to fame, glamor, drugs, the whole showbiz career. Maybe (and this is speculation) he realizes that maybe the stardom is not the life he needs. When the inevitable decline of his stardom decreases, he is left sober {life in a blackout is like life in a storm when u finally come out you see that u are all alone] and as fads move on, he is left obsolete. Maybe he feels he IS a better person for it [the day you break is the day you're born] but still misses the life. I prefer my first theory, mainly because i can relate to it, but i realize the validity of my second theory. If anyone can give me any input on this wonderful song, let me know.
