| Uhh.. Evil as pancakes may be, I don't think that's what the song is about. It's about how you can't cover any thing up in blazes. | |

| The lyrics are intentionally, playfully bad. Some of that, you can see from the text, but they also deviate, intentionally, from a natural flow in the song. Sticking adverbs at the end of the first and fifth lines when you'd expect an indirect object, poor rhymes, numerous passive voice verbs when active would make more sense, lines that fail to build on what came before ("cakes which are..." What scary thing is coming next? "passed around"... Ooooh, spooky.)... you can't write that awkwardly without trying to do so. I find these lyrics hilarious for their intentional flaws. | |

| This song is obviously about pancakes-the food of the devil. This is proven by the line "Teeth are extruded and bones are ground And baked into cakes which are passed around" The cakes refered to there are the pancakes. What is being said is that pancakes are all that will be served in 'hell', they will be made of peoples teeth and bones and there will be NO syrup. NONE. ZERO. ZIP. And also that the dress code will be formal. | |

| I definetly was just saying that maybe it was further proof of another connection between hell & pancakes - I did know that this movie came out waaaayyyy after the song was written. However; Hellboy was created in 1994 (as a comic book) This song was released in 1997. (I'm not saying the song & the movie have anything to do with each other ) | |

| Well, I think the lyrics are pretty damn straitforward. In any case, the I partially agree with ABC in that you are totally overanalyzing the grammar of the lyrics. Even if they are so "horribly" written, it could just be that the lyricist speaks/writes this way. Also, I wanted to add that I discovered this song while reading Dante's Inferno. Made it that much better. | |

| ....WHAT? what the hell do passive verbs and adverbs have to do with this song? i think your linguistic analysis is inherently flawed in that there's no REASON for it whatsoever. ... ... i don't even know what to say. are you correcting the lyrics for the original writer? because that's a different story... but just saying that they 'deviate, intentionally, from a natural flow in the song,' and that adverbs exist where objects should is like saying that "i look funny" should be "i look at a horse," and that one 'deviates' from and should be the other. also, your apparent need to show off your linguistic vocab seems a bit unnecessary, wouldn't you say? | |
