These lyrics are wrong.According to all the others posted lyrics of this I've seen,it should be "Time can solve the mystery / but love is only temporary", "Loneliness doesn't make a sound / Till I head back underground", and "You're swimming faster than you know / But you can't fight the undertow". As for what they mean, I take this song to be about someone who was once in a relationship that went awry. They were in love but something went wrong and one left - moved away, moved on, etc. Years later, they meet up again, and this song is about their lost love, the loneliness of the person left behind, and that person's loss of delusionment - they see the person they used to love and wonder why they did, and it confuses them. The returning person may or may not be trying to say "I've changed, but I still care for you", but the other person wants nothing to do with them now, hence the "Maybe I'll just say good-bye..." The returning person is regretting coming back because things didn't turn out as they planned.
