good song but the lyrics arent fully correct. Can you hear me, can you hear me thro' the dark night, far away, I am dying, forever crying, to be with you, who can say. I was singing this when on my dads boat just before it broke down and we had to be rescued......its still a great tune though, despite the constant reminder of that traumatic day!

Hehe. Gotta love irony. My ex told me to download this last night coz he said it was really sad. I was highly amused when I listened to it for the first time, but I've listened to it a few times since and now I think it's just beautiful. ^_^

Wow thats such a good story, glad you lived to tell the tale. I love this song, my parents used to sing it together when I was like three...then I forgot about Rod, now everytime I play it, I think of my parents. Its beautiful.

I never heard Rod Stewart’s version of this song, but was fortunate enough to hear Axl Rose’s acoustic version from a UK club appearance last year (it is available on Youtube) and it blew me away. It is such a passionate song.
