C Em9
patient and waiting for headlights,

And no one is to know about this
Em9 D C
It's times like these where silence means everything

CHORUS:
D
It's a campaign of distraction
C

It's a shame I don't think that they'll notice
Em9
It's a shame I doubt they even care
C
No one is to know about this
D
It's a shame I don't think that they'll notice
Em9
It's a shame I doubt they even care

Don't let me down

A|-----------------|
E|-----------------|
VERSE 2 (gtr. 1 plays intro, gtr. 2 plays chords):
Em9 D C
But whatever I have gettin myself into
Em9
maybe has been slicing inches from my waist
D
It's my fist vs. the bottle
C
And that's how bad could this hurt
Em9
or against I won't feel a thing
D
I tell you all about it
C
It's just not working out
C
not working out
REPEAT CHORUS
when the female vocals come in, when the guitar plays, it plays a Em9 D C D
Em9 D C D
This is why we were taught so much better than this
Em9 D C D
This is why we were taught so much better than this
Em9 D
This is what living like this does This is what living like this does
C D
This is what living like this does This is what living like this does
Em9 D
This is what living like this does This is what living like this does

| This is the first TBS song I ever heard and I was addicted ever since. The songs meaning kinda confuses me though, I get an idea of that I think it may be about but then it just doesn't fit with some of the lines... what do you guys think this song means? | |

| Please pay attention to "This is what living like this does..." This person is very depressed and is trying all kinds of things to make himself feel better. Only one thing can help him. Jesus. | |

| I think the song is about self-injury and self-injurious behavior born of his depression which was probabaly caused by the betrayal of someone else. The first 2 lines dont make any sense, as if he's distracted, then he states how he's NOW "smooth" or calm and collected, cool. Then the line "too bad it's not my style." I think he's talking about the SI. About how no one knows he does this, or knows how depressed he is, and he's seen as perfect or happy. "I doubt they notice...I doubt they even care," shows that he does something but doesnt believe that the world would take heed to his actions. The speaker even explains the "fist vs. the bottle, " saying the fist gives him pain to feel and enjoy, while alcohol makes him completely numb. The search for a pain reliever, or to feel anything at all, is important to a self-injurer, or to anyone who's depressed. Whatever he does to make himself "feel better" isn't socially acceptable. | |

| i love this song, but it would be my favorite by TBS if they would have just ended 5 seconds before they did, for some reason, i don't like the way he screams "this is what living like this does" for the very last time | |

| I think that this song is basically about a guy who has been hurt in a relationship or maybe just by someone he wants to be involved with. they obviously dont notice him, and that results in him hurting himself to help make the pain go away. i completely agree with number04. But whatever i have been getting myself into, Maybe has been slicing inches from my waist. fucking brilliance | |
