| awesome song. i think it goes deeper than just eye surgery. i believe it's talking about cosmetic surgery as a whole to make a person look better. "cheap dollar signs doll up a picture perfect point of view". making the person perfect in the eyes of everyone else. in other words, beautiful and what everyone wants to be. and now anyone can get this cause there are cosmetic surgeons everywhere. | |

| hello! twenty twenty vision? its about a metaphorical eye operation to make you see clearer, i.e. a realisation that makes you sit up and see the truth of the situation | |

| Here's my interpretation on the song. And yes It does remind me of Hollywood. :D --- I'll take with me every single luxury when I leave you Count on me for that and nothing more Count on me for that and nothing more --- Basically mimicking some of the things people in hollywood do. They marry for money, then divorce and take the money away. He's saying "Count on me for nothing more than taking away everything you own." Etc, as in: I'm not here for love or for the relationship. I'm just here to use you to get your money and share your fame. --- The view from this side's not what The view from this side's not what I thought it'd be, promised something differently --- Maybe what Adam is talking about is someone trying it out. This whole hollywood thing. And they realize it's not all what its cracked up to be. Being famous and such. Maybe he thought that things would be much more simpler? Maybe he sees that hollywood is a total fluke made up of cardboard cut-out heartless people. That's what he means by "I thought it'd be, promised something different." I think it's interesting that he doesn't make complete sentences on exactly what he's thinking about the situation. It's cut short. Like he was in mid-sentence, then his mind wanders off and such. --- Close our eyes and let go of the wheel --- I think he means "Let go of the wheel" as in let go of control of who you are, where your going in life, and let other people blindly lead you. ("Close our eyes") talking about the latest trend and how people follow it blindly. How society these days have no opinion of their own besides get rich, get famous, and stay beautiful. --- It's not the quanity that bothers me (No it's not the quanity that bothers me) No it's not the quality that bothers me.. --- It's not the quantity of people doing this that bothers him. Nor is it the quality. It's the fact that people are doing it period. (Cosmetics, scamming, marrying for only money, etc) ---- It's the means, twenty-twenty surgery Well, twenty-twenty surgery For cheap dollar signs doll up for picture perfect point of view Twenty-twenty surgery Well, twenty-twenty surgery For cheap, dollar signs doll up for picture perfect point of view --- All about cosmetics these days. How people get all this stuff done to them to look perfect because that's how everyone else will see them if they do it. Regardless of what they think. Or maybe it's about money being the only thing important or perfect in life. --- Well all young children listen, 'cause they've got so much to learn (Turn it in, turn it in) --- He's trying to tell us to listen to what he's saying: This stuff is not good. This stuff is all fake. Don't listen to the latest trends, the things people will get you into or you'll just end up like everyone else. Be wiser than them who live only for partying and getting rich. For some reason "turn it in" reminds me of a kid maybe turning in his school paper about the world these days. That's just me though. --- We'll get you home in time, To make the rent should be for free for being me --- He's saying things should be free for him because he's famous, basically. I don't know, the lyrics (and when he sings them) makes me feel like he was saying this extremely sarcastically. --- I do, I don't need you like you think I do, I don't, I don't need you like you think I do, I don't, I don't need you like you think I do, you don't you just don't leave me alone I don't, I don't need you like you think I do, I don't, I don't need you like you think All because you get it --- He's saying, in respondance to the first part of the song, he married for money and money only. Money and perhaps fame. He's saying "I don't need you like you think I do" as in "I don't need you for love, I just need you for money." and the other person thinks they're staying because they think the other person is in love, when reality they aren't. They're just there for the dough. --- You're so sensitive I am, I am a machine. You're so sensitive I am, I am a machine. You're so sensitive I am, I am a machine. You're so sensitive I am, I am a machine. --- No idea what this could be. Perhaps just Adam being his crazy lyrical self. As for Adam losing his touch with Lyrics... are you insane? Don't be delirious. There's a lot more to Adams lyrics then meets the eye. All you have to do is look close enough and read between the lines. Anyway, that's my take on it. | |

| This song is great! I love the metaphor in the title! Also i definetly agree with some of the comments made above about how the song is about people resorting to plastic surgery in order to meet society's standard of beauty. "Twenty-Twenty Surgery" : I think thats soo true.. and very cleverly put.. Its like plastic surgery is, figuratively speaking, the new type of eye surgery as it makes people more visually "attractive". My interpretation of the last 2 lines " your soo sensitive, And i am a machine" could mean that people are more sensitive about their appearance and so they try to fix their insecurities by eliminating their flaws thru surgery. As for the I am a machine, it could mean that these sensitive, insecure, rich people are becoming more mechanical in the way they live, and the way they follow all the same fashion trends,... i don't know, theres probably more to it, but anyways that's just my take on it. Either way this song is awesome!! One of the best on the CD fer sure!! | |

| i have to give nod 2 (some (- the pple talking about how sucksy the song's lyrics r... why r u here?? do u have 2 much time on your hands?? i'll give you somehting to do...) of) ya'll!! i believe/agree it is about the craze about having the "perfect" hollywood face and it being so "cheap" cuz of their husbands. the first part sounds like "the grass isn't always greener on the other side" and hmm.. yea. it did remind me of fight club, but i didn't understand a lot of its morals/ideas... (if someone could show me the light on this i'd appreciate it!) so now he's sayin that "it's not the quality that bothers me...it's the means..." they used "means" differently and i think it means the REASON on why pple r gettin plastic surgery. the "i do, i don't" part sounds like he's leaving his plastic gf, but "ll because u get it" get what?? o. and why is adam a machine and this plastic girl sensitive?? sorry if there's more ?'s than .'s!! | |

| uh first of all it is not over my head. the song basically means that adam's leaving a relationship but once he's left it it's not as good as he though it'd be. it sounds like he's real moody and can't decide if he's happy he's left the relationship or if he's sad. and it seems like the "you're so sensitive" is sarcasm and that the chick was really in truth, heartless | |

| Using money to make up for the flaws inherent in all of us. In this case, the metaphor is eye surgery to regain perfect vision. Perhaps? That's my take. Giving Adam Lazarra the benefit of the doubt, maybe his lyrics suck, but I saw that metaphor. | |

| def. about the how our generation is obsessed with cosmetic surgery. we try to look perfect. so its like we're paying money to see things the "right" way, or how we're supposed to see them...blah blah blah. but i think theres more to it. b/c this guy is obvioulsy leaving somewhere. maybe he used to think like everyone else but then he saw the shallowness and how superficial it was. thats just how i see it. one more thing. its not the number 20-20 that bothers him, and its not how good the surgery would make him see, its the reason why EVERYONE is getting this done that bothers him. | |
