The guy's talking about being so hurt in relationships and finally finding this girl and the it turns back she's completely holding back her unhappiness that she's not satisfied. Shes been trying to hide it because she knows how much he loves her but in the end it only hurts him more. And he loves her so much he wants her to be happy and know about all the things she taught him, but that its the end and there will not be a second time ('don't turn around, 'cause I won't be standing here'). and by 'you conned me into thinking that all i had was you' he kind of realizes that she blinded him (intentionally or unintentionally) but he knows he's stronger without her.

I kinda have a different twist on this song. I think the girl cared for the guy (the singer), but either not enough to stay w/him or for whatever reason she couldn't stay w/him. She didn't wanna break the guys heart, though, so she stayed w/him, & kept those feelings hidden "...all the things you were tryin' to hide." Now, the relationships over, even though they both care for each other, & now "in the mourning" he can see why it didn't work. Sorry if I confused yall. It took me a while to put this into words. I'm in this situation right now, except we could never be together in the first place because of the problems.

I think in the first verse, hes got this girl that he wasn't even looking for in the first place because he was hurt before, he ends up falling for her, but then he begins realizing the girl doesn't care about him like she should, then in the second verse he finally breaks up with her. Its like he knows she cares, but doesn't treat him like he deserves to be treated. Even though he loves her, he realizes the relationship isn't healthy for him anymore. --Dan

being a girl, i can't completely relate to him, but i can enough. i know how he feels. after getting dumped by the love of my life, i started to realize why he left me ... i couldn't keep him satisfied. its plain and simple. she wanted more than he could give.

girl cheated on him.. he learns that girls are stupid and you can't trust them thus turning men's viewpoint about women from being these beautiful creatures who take our hearts to beautiful objects with one purpose in life. makes you think. how can one woman be different from the next?

this song is kickass. and for those who say they know what this song is about, you don't know. no one knows exactly what any song is about. because when you hear a song, you get a distinctive picture in your mind, and someone elses will be different. therefor, you can never fully understand any song, thanks.

to me, the girl doesnt love the guy the way he loves her but shes afraid to let him know. he knows already though and wants her to tell the truth so that they can move on, i think. does anyone know what "beauty thus become" means?

This song is amazing and I certainly hope the band is not breaking up.. Especially since they are supposedly touring with Creed. I think moreso than a break up.. He's dealing with the fact that he blamed himself.... And then realized that it wasn't just his fault for losing what they had.. Now THAT is something that EVERYONE can relate to.

It means different things to different people, depending on your experinces and the way u live your life. I believe that its about a relationship between two people or a group of people. It apears to me like the writer is feeling the same thing as the other person in the relationship, but does not want to edmidt it. I believe he is trying to say that if the relationship is no more, then he will hide his feelings and he will "craw back in my cave" and shake his pain off, make it seem like it does not matter what happens to him.
