C7 C
In a world of sounds

Chorus One:
----------------
F/G Gsus4
It's in the way you're always hiding from the light
Am7 G
See for yourself you have been sitting on a time bomb
F/G Gsus4
No revolution maybe someone somewhere else
Am7 G
Could show you something new about you and your inner song
F/G Gsus4
And all the love and all the love in the world
Am7 C7
Won't stop the rain from fallling, waste seeping underground

I want to break it down (break it down again)

Verse two (as verse one):
---------------------------------
Break it down again
So those are my schemes
And these are my plans
Hot tips for the boys
Fresh news from the force
When it's all mixed up
Better break it down
In the world of silence
In the world of sound

Chorus two (as chorus one):
-------------------------------------
No sleep for dreaming say the architects of life
Big bouncing babies bread and butter can I have a slice
They make no mention for the beauty of decay
Blue yellow pink umberella save it for a rainy day
And all the love and all the love in the world
Won't stop the rain from falling
Waste seeping underground
I want to break it down (break it down again)

Instrumental:
---------------

C Dm7 C F
C Dm7 C F
Am7

Coda:
------
Am7
Horsing around
D7
Pray to the power
Am7
Play to the crowd with your big hit sound
Edim
And they won't simmer won't simmer won't simmer down
Am7
Play to the crowd
D7
Play to the crowd
D7
Play

Chorus Three (as chorus one):
------------------------------------
It's in the way you always hiding from the light
Fast off from heaven just like Moses on a motorbike
No revolution maybe someone somewhere else
Could show you something new to help you with the ups and downs
I want to break it down (break it down again)

(Please see my comments on "Mr. Pessimist.") The bulk of the "Elemental" album is Roland's answer to his deep disappointment over Curt exiting TFF. Roland felt betrayed. After Curt left, Roland retained the TFF name, essentially "became" TFF, and felt he was beginning anew. The songs "Break It Down Again" and "Elemental" are both about starting over, without Curt.

like imagodoc said, this song is likely to be about roland starting over after TFF's break up, i dont think this is about gay rights, although you certainly dont have to be gay to sing about it...

This song is about Roland Orzibal's frustration with steps backward in the fight for recoqnition and rights of gays - "hot tips for the boys, fresh news from the force" is about the "don't ask, don't tell" legislation in the US Army, in which gays could join, but would be forbidden to be open about it. Orzibal sees this as regressive. "it's in the way you're always hiding from the light" - is his frustration with gays like Elton John and George Michael, whom Orzibal often confronted about not admitting to their homosexuality - he adds "play to the crowd with your big hit sound", an ironic exhortation about them bowing to commercial sensibilities, including singing boy-girl type love songs. "no revolution maybe someone somewhere else" - is about their lack of interest in fighting for gay rights "big bouncing babies bread and butter can I have a slice" - is a stab at the conventional "straight life".

No he is'nt gay and the song is not about gay rights whatsoever. He is married to his childhood sweetheart and ahs been for about 24 years. But interesting analysis anyway - I think its about just taking time out from complicated ways of thinking or situations, and just breaking the situtaion or problem down into simple steps in order to deal with it and get the right result -I'm probably wrong though!! :)
