Intro: A?--Emaj9--A add9
A? Emaj9 A add9
Wondering the streets, in a world underneath it all
A? Emaj9
Nothing seems to be, nothing tastes as sweet
A add9
As what I can't have
E5 Hm?
Like you and the way that you're twisting your hair
A add9
round your finger
A? Emaj9
Tonight I'm not afraid to tell you
Fmaj7?
What I feel about you.
A add9 Emaj9
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
E5 Hm? Fmaj7?
and cannon ball into the water
A add9 Emaj9
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
E5 Hm? A add9
For you I will
E5 Hm? A add9
For you I will
Forgive me if I studder
From all of the clutter in my head
Cuz I could fall asleep in those eyes
Like a water bed
Do I seem familiar, i've crossed you in hallways
a thousand times, no more camouflauge
I want to be exposed, and not be afraid to fall.
(Chorus)
E Emaj9(no 3rd)
If I could dim the lights in the mall
A E Emaj9 (no 3rd) A
And create a mood I would
E Emaj9(no 3rd) A
Shout out your name so it echos in every room
E Emaj9(no 3rd) A
I would
Fmaj7? A add9
That's what I'd do, That's what I'd do
Fmaj7? A add9
That's what I'd do, That's what I'd do
Emaj9
to get through to you
(chorus)

| xo.butterfly, That was one of the best post I have seen on this site in quite some time. Really, most people just give meanings that do not make sense or do not really try that hard to explain a song, but wow, it just seems like you gave it your all. I really like this song as well (I pre-ordered Teddy Geiger's debut album over a week ago and just picked it up today), and am happy to see a fan like you. Take care! =) | |

| Teddy went to an all boys school, which for me adds a whole new aspect to the lyric "I crossed you in hallways a thousand times. ' | |

| As a guy, I love this song. He's got a nice voice and the lyrics are good. I think xobutterfly summed up the meaning. But it's a nice little love song. | |

| After watching the object of his affection from afar for what seemed like eternity, he (Teddy, if you will) finally decides to lay his heart out on the line. It's going to be hard because she seems unattainable (maybe she's got a boyfriend, etc). He's always been so shy, never wanting to make the first move. He fears rejection, or is simply discouraged at the fact that he has no chance whatsoever. He believes that she is completely unaware of his existence, but he could be wrong (As shown in the video). This again reinforces the saying, “You always want what you can’t get.” But now, he's going to muster every ounce of confidence he has and just dive in, regardless of the anticipated response. Kinda like cannonballing into the water, because in doing so, you simply shut your eyes, jump in, and hope for the best. On one hand, his heart might be crushed and stomped on. On the other hand, this may mark the beginning of a beautiful relationship. Maybe he’s not expecting any particular response at all. But if you never try, then you'll never know. And tomorrow might be too late. Maybe he's feeling reckless, adventurous. Maybe he feels like he's got a chance. Perhaps he feels like it couldn't possibly get worse, so he might as well give it a try. Could it be that he's got nothing to lose? This seems like a typical teenage crush situation, definitely very cute and has a sort of innocence about it. Everyone can relate, I'm sure. Sounds like it's situated in a school setting (perhaps high school, considering his age), especially with the mention of hallways, and the mall, and whatnot. I especially love the lines “I could fall asleep in those eyes”, and “No more camouflage / I want to be exposed”. Aww, Teddy is so cute! I love the hair, haha. Awesome song. And about the video: I believe she is with Teddy now. Throughout the video, he is singing to her about how he felt prior to their relationship. The video is comprised mostly of flashbacks. And in the end, we find out that she is with him. Don't you love happy endings? ^^ | |

| I can just see some guy pacing back and forth in front of a girl's dorm room trying to work up the courage to knock. Just pacing, and practicing what to say, and trying to be perfect for the girl behind the door. | |

| It's about liking someone from afar who wears blinders, who hasn't ever really seen you even though they've passed you in the hall (at school?) hundreds of times. He's saying he wants this girl to notice him, and that he will muster all of the confidence he has in order to finally tell her how he feels. Telling your crush how you feel is thrilling and scary, like a cannonball into the water. And he's right, you always want what you can't have, but he's going to try to get the girl anyway. I think most people can relate. | |
