| This song is actually about same sex anything.(You guys are good!) Sara wrote it while trying to get her american partner to move to canada and she was so upset at how badly everyone in the states treated same sex anything. and yes, 'Like__oh' they are lesbians. Sara explained the meaning/reasoning behind the song at a recent show. =) | |

| i heard the lyrics as "try to control the pull of one madness to another madness etc" and i thought they were possibly referring to going from one drama to the next, and that small part of us that likes the dramas in our lives, and trying to control it. | |

| have to agree with abi999 here, it's pretty clear. "to my heart confusion rose against" and "the muscles fought so long to control against the pull of one magnet to another magnet" are about denying one's own attraction to others. the "they" are those who are homophobic and disdainful. | |

| when i saw them live, it was three days after this album came out, so they played the whole album for the first half of the concert. they played it backwards, so this was the last song we heard before their short break. the first thing sara said was "this song is about gay marriage." i also read in an interview that emy and sara DID get commonlaw marriage....and i thin it said something about being in massachusetts. and thats where the line "I married in the sun against the stone of buildings built before you and I were born" came from. =] i love this song. and this album. i can't choose a favorite. i feel like its being unfair to the other songs to pick just one. hahaha. | |

| I believe this song is about a homosexual relationship... I think when she sings, "they seem so very scared of us" and "I look into the mirror for evil that just does not exist I don’t see what they see." She is talking about how a lot of people don't accept them for being lesbians. Like "they" (the people who are "scared" of them) see evil while she (Tegan and Sara) see just a regular person, which is right. I believe homosexual people are just like straight people. Being gay myself, I applaud Tegan and Sara for writing this song. It makes a bold statement. | |

| i agree with above. and also the lyrics "try to control the pull of one magnet to another magnet to another magnet to another magnet to another" are saying they can't help who they are attracted to and that you can't change someone for being "gay". you can't control the pull of one magnet to another (attraction). | |
